Did anybody notice in the credits for last episode that Captain Sunshine is voiced by Kevin Conroy, aka Batman from the Animated Series? I was shocked, he actually sounds completely different as Captain Sunshine. I never would have guessed had I not seen his name in the credits. I think it adds a great little subversive layer to the skewering of the homoerotic subtext of the Batman-Robin relationship in the early comics.

The first two episodes of the season are so satisfying because they are so clearly committed to the Season 3 trend of making the show both increasingly character-based and also completely fucking off the wall. I love the chances they're taking, and I think they're paying off in spades so far. Can't wait to see what the deal with SPHINX is.

Wait, are you suggesting that veteran voice actors have dynamic voice talents??

I'm going to have to sit down.

To be fair, he's basically been voicing Batman and almost nothing else for the past 15 years now. So fuck you, wiseass.

Also to be fair, Doc and Jackson have basically said they would've been totally okay with Conroy just doing the Batman voice.

The Monarch's speech in the Wonderboy costume was probably the second-creepiest thing I've seen on Venture Bros.  First, of course, was the Monarch fucking G.U.A.R.D.O.

The one part I didn't like is that I thought that Hank was progressing toward something else other than being the lame ass comic relief stupid kid.

Then he cuts his cool new haircut and prances around in a sidekick uniform yelling "dodge" and shit.

Though he did call his dad a honky.  That was pretty amusing.

I liked how Captain Sunshine and his pals comprised the entire News Team, not to mention the implication of his "real" name being very similar to that of a NYC anchorman's, heh.

I can't believe no one has posted about the most recent ep yet!  Especially considering Dean used science as a verb!!   :-D  Some messed-up stuff with (do I even have to say spoiler in here?) Dean's aborted clone, excellent fun-pokings at progressive rock, hijinks with Hank and Dermot, and "Hank!  Just because he's a black man doesn't mean he has 'The Shining'!" (cut to scene where black man has the Shining).  The scene of Dr. Venture, er, proceeding to the panic room made me laugh so hard my husband looked at me funny.  Well, he does that anyway.

What did you guys think?

the newest episode was wonderful, and as soon as it was over and they showed the preview of next week's episode, I was filled with the agony of anticipation "aahhhh a whole fucking week! shit."

very rarely does a television show leave me so enthralled and entertained that I literally cannot wait for the next episode.

Im kind of in the minority where I preferred the serial installments to whatever is going on now. It feels like the beginning part of a book while you are waiting for something interesting to happen to the characters to engage you.

Hopefully later in the season it starts getting better, but frankly, its already pissed away 25% of it on the worst episodes since the worst episodes of season one while they were still trying to figure shit out.

And as I dont have a TV and D/L this show, I quite simply have to wait 3 or so days from the original air date for a real torrent to even appear which isnt really the shows fault, but irritates me nonetheless.

Ok, let me more specific, watching these first three episodes I feel like I am biding my time before the invariably better episodes start airing.

Perhaps I like reading books for the enjoyment of the story, and not for the black shapes on white paper. And well, 10 pages in there isnt much story.

*edit*

Im just pissy right now... I should post in the blog topic.

I'm pretty sure Dr. My Wife's boobs are way bigger than they used to be. I mean, they were always huge, but now they are...massive. Just something I noticed.

I'm really interested to see where the plot goes with 21 being crazy and talking to a skull and all. Espescially after the end of last night's episode.

I have to say, I love that there's more Sgt. Hatred.  "Well good morning, Mr. Sleepy Kill-Me!"

Between 21's revelation re: 24 and Sgt. Hatred's revelation re: Princess Tinyfeet, I fell like this episode ended in a fairly dark place.

Perhaps she's preggers?

"PEE . . . ON . . . THIS."

Bunch interesting things in this ep, but it wasn't as funny as the preceding ones.  Oh well -- a less-funny-than-usual Venture Brothers is still a hell of a lot funnier than most things.

I can't believe he can survive for even one second against Brock, which it shows him clearly doing in the preview for the season finale that they've been showing.

it's the insanity, it's made him a beast.

Man, I missed last week's episode cause I was sleepy, and for some reason Adultswim messed with their player so I can't see the entire episode, only clips.  THE CLIPS MAKE THIS EPISODE SEEM SO GOOD.

I think the only sanity 21 will get back is if
1)he gets a super hot girlfriend/nemisis

2) 24 comes back to life

3)he kills all of the monarchs enemies, including the monarch himself.

Not exactly.  It was the finale for the first half of the season; for some reason they're splitting the season into to two parts....probably to annoy the fans that have to wait a year or two before new episodes after every season.

Cause last night, I fell asleep and missed the first half of the episode and was half asleep for the parts I did see, anyway. It's been a long weekend.

And holy crap, what an episode it was.

Are you using Firefox with AdBlock?   You have to disable AdBlock and sit through the commercials between the individual clips.  Or use a different browser.

I'm being naughty & downloading these as I do not live in the states & they don't bring them out on DVD fast enough, is anyone else doing this? I have a bunch of dead torrents with no one seeding them, which seems weird as they should have 2000 odd people seeding. Just wanted some help as I'm having to avoid talking to stateside friends because I'm behind :(

If you can use Ninjavideo (not sure if it works everywhere), just stream them.  They should have everything in Divx, and the site is fantastic as long as you use AdBlock.  The only thing you have to do is open an applet they have in order to access the videos.

this season has already proved that this is the best comedic television show currently in existence.  waiting 6 months for the rest is going to suck.

Ugh, yes, waiting again for more new episodes is gonna suck, but they are always worth the wait.  Loved the SPOILER SPOILER SPOLIER epic battle between 21 and Brock -- awesome.  And then they one-upped it!  And the ghost of 24 was cracking me up.  I kinda hope they have more Dr. Orpheus in the next batch -- the whole thing with Triana moving could spur some interesting developments . . .

Actually, I would posit that purple elephants do not contribute to the ruination of everything forever in any way.

Best call-back ever:

"Brock Sampson.  At last we meet."
"Do I know you?"
"Don't give me that shit!"

You know what was really silly and minor, but I totally love?  How White nonchalantly gave Billy a high-five so they could get on with their conversation with Rusty.  Poor Billy always gets antsy when he's left hanging.
