Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

Yay! A Silver Mt. Zion is basically the best band.

My two favorite albums by a Silver Mt. Zion are their newest, 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons and He Has Left Us Alone..., their first album. Their first is very spare and minimalistic, and completely unlike Horses in the Sky. It's a fine album, but if you started with Horses in the Sky I would go with 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons. Its a much angrier, louder record and kind of has a '70s blues metal tinge to it.

i'm listening to He Has Left Us Alone right now and i like it, but it isn't quite what i was looking for.

Definitely listen to "This is our Punk Rock." If you like their newest and "Horses..." you'll like that one as well. It's more in line with those albums than their older stuff which is mostly rather different.

I think this name rings a bell but I am coming up with scratch. In my mind, it is a good name for a mix between Wolf Parade and Explosions In The Sky. Is this the kind of music they are? It should be.

No. I don't think Wolf Parade could possibly be compared to this band, or EitS beyond a very superficial level.

EDIT: Upon much consideration, the band your describing would be fantastic. Or awful. I'm not sure which.
