Kinda late on the draw, but dibs also on a hotel. However, if that doesn't work I do have a real life friend (shocking!) that lives in Chicago.

guys, i was kind of kidding about the dibs thing. i do not think that this is really how we are going to decide about discount hotel rooms... since it is a nice thing that jace is doing for us, i would think that he would divvy up the rooms however he sees fit.

(unless he's cool with dibs... in which case i called it first. ^_^)

Well guys I'm gonna do some math here and be sexist.
First math:

So, we can probably get rooms with 2 beds, and we can share beds or have some people sleep on the floor, so we can get, lets say 5 people per room.
Now, lets assume I can get 4 rooms (since that seems to be what I see most), that'd house roughly 20 people.

Now, lets be sexist:
Ladies get rooms first, then guys, because I like ladies more than I like guys. And Jens gets a room too if he wants. Because he said I was cool.

Dude, this is a Sheraton, they have blackjack and hookers there. If I can get a solid number on the people wanting to take up my offer of a ~$79 a night room, I can see how many rooms I should get. Keep in mind that this is $79 for the room, not per person.

keep in mind if necessary sleeping bags/big heavy blankets on the beds that noone ever needs or uses are your friends. Also, as long as you get a room nowhere near the lobby there is no reason that the owner's of the hotel should ever have to know how many people are staying in it.

PantsFTW, make sure to check and see how much it costs for two people to split one room as opposed to 4 people in one room, because I think it is cheaper for fewer people to officially split a room. Then everyone can work on splitting the cost between themselves.

4 people will make it $10 more, if I recall. At least, that's how it works at our hotel. I figure most Sheratons are the same. Except other Sheratons are nicer.

Guys, there might be a kink in this plan. And I don't mean that in the good way like me sharing a room with Liz, Jodie and Kristin. I mean that I may not be able to book until 90 days before the weekend. I am gonna call them today to see what I can do, and I'll be reporting back here.

I talked to the sales person at my hotel and they filled me in on some of the rules that come with the rate we want.

I'm apparently a very quiet sleeper, and if someone else is in the bed I don't move around at all. Like, I will fall asleep and wake up in the same position and place.

But if I'm alone I move my arms around and stuff or wake up ready to fight because I thought someone was hovering above me. Yeah, that happened a couple times in my apartment.

And yet I never woke up, which I don't know how its possible. Honestly though I think it was just that freakin' room, I was high up being on the top bunk and all and I was sleeping on my back for the majority of the time there, and I didn't have my own pillow or anything. Though now I want to like record myself sleeping at night or something to hear what it sounds like. Maybe falling asleep drunk had something to do with it. If this time comes around I'll take as many precautionary measures as possible, those nasal openers, take an antihistamine before bed, drink a couple glasses of water, buy you all earplugs, I don't know. Maybe as a precautionary thing you gather up all the snorers and put us in one room or something.

Though I mean, if you guys don't want me around, *sniff* I guess that's okay...

Okay guys and gals, here's the dealizzle, fo shizzle:

I'll have to wait until probably March or April to try and get the hotel rooms. I don't forsee a problem getting these rooms, so is it cool if we wait for a bit. Just keep reminding me about it in gabbly and PMs and stuff and it'll stay on the top of my mind. They just try to book those rates last since, turns out its actually $69 a night!

Well, I don't want to be all pushy or anything but I'm travelling quite a long way (as is Jens, Kristin and a couple other people) so I'd like to know I'll have somewhere to sleep. No problem with it being a floor though!

I got loads of extra hours booked for the next two weeks tonight, so I'm feeling quite confident about this saving malarky. Man you guys. Man. I can't believe I'm doing this.

Just remember the whole deal with saving for something so far away. It's really far away. there's lots of time between now and then to think "Hey, I can buy this and make up the difference in no time, I've got time." Stay vigilant.

For those of you travelling the farthest, I'll make sure I get (even just one room) for you guys even if I have to pay more than expected. I'm promising this to you guys all as Christmas (or Hanukkah or Gabriellikah) presents. (But what the hell is Kwanzaa?

Anyways, I don't forsee a problem, most hotels don't have a busy season during the summer, as long as that's not some crazy sports season, I don't pay attention to sports seasons.

We really don't have any deadly animals in the Midwest at all. I think we only have one snake that is poisonous and its in an isolated part of Wisconsin

No, we're not Australia or anything. You could possibly be eaten by a squirrel or a feral cat, however--which is one of the more adorable ways to die, certainly, but still results in being dead. And beneath my deck is probably the most comfortable place you can imagine if you happen to be homeless and currently living in a wedge between a rock and a hard place.

Actually, I'm not kidding though. If you really are that desperate for a one or even two night place to sleep you totally have my permission to sleep outside somewhere.

Well we are not going during Lolla or any super awesome baseball games (I think) so we should probably be alright? Those are the two main reasons I can think of that would fill the hotels.

We just had two English boys. One was short and friendly and made me chuckle. The other was huge and drunk 90% of the time I saw him. Actually I think the first one might have been Australian. I can't recall...
