Hey guys, I was looking around the Starwood website and I've found a few hotels. We've got the Four Points Downtown Chicago/Magnificent Mile, but Four Points are terrible places where careers go to stagnate (guess where I used to work). There's the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, and hey, I work at a Sheraton now, they're nice. There's the Westin Chicago River North, but Westins are expensive and uppity. Then there's the W Chicago - City Center. The W is like the hipster child of the Starwood hotels, apparently its like this super hip party place?

I don't have the prices yet, I'll look into that, but if there's some preference for a specific type, we can look at that hotel specifically.

Yeah, find a place that's rather inexpensive but still decent. I'm going to look at hostels just so we have options.

Edit: After looking at reviews, this one is the only one that sounds decent. Doesn't sound as good as the Tronno one, but the next two under it mentioned very few showers and the other mentioned bugs.

(I hope there are inexpensive hotels...)

Just as a precaution, we may want to also look into other options as a backup plan because my magical less than 100$ rates may not be available for when we are looking. It told me they weren't available at that time, but I think that is because it is something you can only book 3 months in advance.

You know what the sad part is? I didn't even think about Boston being a possibility for Jens and me at all, because traveling to America is pretty expensive and one trip in a year is more than enough for my bank account. So yeah, I didn't even consider going to Boston until I saw an amazing offer somewhere on the internet that said "Limited offer: Oslo - Boston 2000 kr (280 dollars) in January and February, hurry up!". I looked it up and there were tickets available for the Bostoncon dates, but of course, I had no money and next payday was 15 days later. By that time all of the tickets were gone. I could have afforded it goddammit!

Well Chicago is for certain, but I really wish I could do both! I will be broke until January 10th, and then I have to hurry and buy the Camp Edith/Chicagocon tickets because I found some awesomely cheap and fast ones. Instead of Oslo-Frankfurt-Chicago-Detroit it will now be Oslo-Philadelphia-Detroit for 1000 kr less than I thought I had to spend. PLUS the Philly-Detroit plane will contain May and Oli as an extra bonus, so it's easy to see why I would want to grab these tickets as soon as possible.

This means I wont have any money left to buy Boston tickets, and going to Boston would also mean missing out on the first classes of the spring semester which would kind of suck because I'm starting three new courses that I know practically nothing about. Boston will have to do without me and my brother, which really sucks.

Not sure if this is helpful, but did you ever look into bus tickets? I think you can take megabus from Chicago to Boston, for example.

Not sure if this is helpful, but did you ever look into bus tickets? I think you can take megabus from Chicago to Boston, for example.

Thanks for trying to help, but seeing how I wont be in Chicago until July and the Boston meetup is in two weeks I don't think that's possible unless the buss takes a short trip to Norway on the way to Boston. Looks like I'll just have to wait to meet the people of the forums until July.
