Fugazi - "Steady Diet of Nothing"

my cat seems impressed by it - she wondered across the room from her bed not long after i started playing the album, and has been sat staring at the laptop for most of the duration.  awesome animal.

Tarentel's newest "Live Edits" album is currently blaring out of my speakers and surely terrifying and perplexing those who live in my dorm. But I love me so Tarentel so they can deal. At least it's not as abrasive as the Merzbow "Merzbox" marathon that was on the radio for the past couple days (that's right, all 50 CDs worth).

Bolero, by Maurice Ravel. You know, that really long slow classical piece which amounts to a 16 minute crescendo? It's the same theme repeated by different sections and instruments about a dozen times. Yes, I like it, and I like Daft Punk. They're similar that way, except with Daft Punk, you don't have to strain your ears for the first five minutes.

i'm having my face rocked clean off by the dvd that comes with "1994 - 2006: Chaos Years" by Strapping Young Lad.

really, there's few bands who'd start their set at a major festival with "WE ARE [band name], STICK THIS UP YOUR FUCKING CUNTS!" before blasting into the most balls-heavy song in the world.  or at least few bands who could do that and get such a good reaction from the crowd!

Steven Wilson- Insurgentes.

First listen, Dovey says "meh." Willing to reserve final judgement until I've actually had a proper listen to it. (it's background music at work at the moment).

Before that, The Gaslight Anthem's "The '59 Sound."

Albums like this and "Stay Positive" by The Hold Steady are what make me have faith that rock is not dead, not dying. Somebody needs to tie that skinny fuck from The Killers to a chair and make him listen to those two albums non-stop until he admits that the does not know jack shit about making anthemic rock and roll.

it is a pretty amazing album.  atm i can't decide which of their albums i like best, but i'm busy searching out every j. robbins-related band.  the guy is a musical genius!

atm i'm listening to "as the roots undo" by circle takes the square.  gotta be in the right mood for this, but when i am, it's like being hit by a lightning storm.

I can't stop listening to Alterkicks - The Cannibal Hiking Disaster.

Songs about a couple of pals that go hiking in France, and one of the friends(Jed) falls down a wet cliff and dies. His friend finds him but gets lost and doesnt know what to do. The song progresses until near the end he eats part of jed "Maybe I should eat my friend". But then the friend wakes up. Shits crazy sick and awesome. The way the singer sings it is just perfect for the topic at hand.

The first Dresden Dolls album is pretty solid. I enjoy listening to it, even though it is a little rougher and more unfinished-sounding than their next two albums.
Definitely give it a listen, as it's a real gem compared to other artist/band debuts.

The Gay Blades are kind of key.  I'm seeing them with Craig Owens from Chiodos and VersaEmerge in a few weeks.  Should be fun.  Nice bar a few minutes from my house too.

Listening to Taylor Swift now.  But today it's been all Blink182.  I'm just so stoked for this reunion.

So, funny story.
I was listening to "Bulletproof Weeks" by Matt Nathanson in my room while also doing homework and such. My roommate walks in, sighs dramatically and says "I've heard this song, like, a million times. If I hear it again, I'll kill someone!"
I put on my headphones and continue listening to the song/doing homework. She goes to her computer, turns on some kind of overdone hiphop/rap music, and leaves the speakers on loud enough for me to hear.
See, it's funny because roommates suck!

I don't know whether people actually liked this album when it came out as it was mainly known for it's single 'Jerk It Out' which was played pretty much everywhere but i really enjoy it.
