Proposition: Instead of just posting songs we are listening to, lets actually talk about them!

Anyway, my god I am listening to Off Minor right now and I never realized how good the song Cadaveric is. I was finally getting to downloading some more of their stuff (I only have one split with them on it) and then I went to their myspace page to listen to some songs by them. My god is Cadaveric a good song, I can't stop listening to it. It's not very in your face or aggressive, but you can just feel the discontent in this song. It's like passive-aggressive punk rock (with jazz thrown in). Off Minor can write a hell of a song.

Rainbow - Boris with Michio Kurihara is basically one of my desert island discs.

Apparently that's songs, not albums. Well anyway, I fucking love it.

there is a local band (Bellingham, WA) called Pirates 'R Us (i think that's how it's spelled) and they are really really fantastic. you should look them up if you're into that kind of thing.

I can't stand her music. It's good the first listen, but quickly wears out when you realise it's always the same formula for each songs.

The Kinks - One for the Road
Its a live double album recorded in 1979. Its clear they took the a very similar to path to The Who. Its all really great stuff from their 70s period as well as a hard rock versions of 'All Day and All of the Night' and '20th Century Man'

All day I've had Frank Turner on repeat. I can't think of much better.

i gave "love, ire and song" a spin last night.  s'good shit.  you heard his old band, Million Dead?

oh, and currently i'm listening to "Supporting Caste," the new Propagandhi album, which my local record store thankfully had in stock a few days early!  it is THE MAD SHIT, i tell thee - they've amped up the metal elements, the riffs are more face-batteringly huge than before, and there's a comedy cover of Black Widow's "Come to the Sabbat" after the last track.  awesome album.

next up is "everynight fire works" by hey mercedes, which came in the post today.

Kicking out the jams!  8-)

Rage Against The Machine - Kick Out The Jams

I prefer the Rage version to the original.

Also, I myself am listening to "I Know a Little" by Lynyrd Skynyrd (which looks so normal next to all these strange metal and indie bands).  The piano solo will kick your ass.

I actually listen to almost nothing that comes out nowadays, just things from 80's and before (weird since I wasn't even alive then).

So I am listening to the Sigur Ros discography for the first time.  I have listened to their newest, but that didn't have nearly as much of a post-rock bent as some of their older ones.  Takk is pretty amazing.

It's definitely helped me get through the mountain of homework I have.  I'm 4 pages through a 5 page paper that I started 2 and a half hours ago.  Normally I do not get them done so fast.  Plus, it's practically summer outside, so all in all I think I've had a good day, and it almost feels like the flowers are blooming again.
