The Dark was the Night compilation. There's some pretty cool stuff on here. Also a lot of filler and uninteresting tracks (and also a few disappointments: Lenin is just not a very good song). Overall I like this a lot though.

I am pretty sure that the music forum's previous description ("TED LEO FULL FRONTAL") is mostly due to me shamelessly masturbating over this guy and probably pissing people off. BUT GUYS LISTEN TO ME HE IS REALLY THAT AWESOME

interesting stuff. I'm sure kids will love it

I can't stop laughing at it. I don't know why.

Edit: Also, that song makes me think of something else. How annoying it is to get a song without words stuck in your head, because then your left just sort of half humming/whistling/making your mouth sound like post-rock.

Er, yeah, Adult Swim really fucked up the distribution of that album.  Vinyl is widely available, but you can only get the CD directly from the website which only ships to the US and Canada (and shipping to Canada is $14 more than the nominal CD price), and the Amazon digital download is restricted to the US.  It's kinda mindblowing they'd cripple the availability of a record that has immediate appeal to two devoted fanbases---both Venture Bros. fans and Jim Thirlwell/Foetus fans have been waiting for it for a long time.  Personally, I'm in both camps.

NP: The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy.  "In a Hole" is one of the best songs ever.

Ginger from The Wildhearts is doing a column on the Classic Rock website about overlooked rock albums, and this was his latest one.  Kinda reminds me of a strange mix of Queen, The Beatles, and The Who.

i've been having a bit of a 90s-awesome-sesh.  first off was Therapy?'s "hats off to the insane" EP, then "Mission: Control!" by Burning Airlines, and i'm now a coupla songs from the end of Fugazi's "The Argument."  an afternoon well spent, methinks!

Now playing: The Venture Bros.: The Music of JG Thirlwell.  Best animated show on TV.  Easily the best TV soundtrack, animated or otherwise.

I seem to remember hearing that he did the soundtrack somewhere else. I'm putting it on my list of music to look for, as I've heard a little of his stuff and really enjoyed it (especially his remix of Manson's "Beautiful People").

The new MONO album. Over and over, in fact. Holy fuck, SO epic. This one is a real grower. I liked it but was a bit lukewarm after my initial couple listens. The more I listen through it though, the more I want to just play it on repeat. Their shows in May are going be immense beyond words.
