"lives like mine" by mike hale (of in the red and gunmoll, and probably other equally awesome gainesville bands i've yet to discover).

this is an acoustic album, but it's the most beautiful and sad one i've ever heard.  the guy's wife left him and he lost his job, so he pretty much sold all this belongings, put a few essentials into a bag and is currently living life as a travelling musician with no fixed abode.  takes some real guts to do something like that, i got a lot of respect for the guy, especially when on top of that he's making such amazing music.

At Khar's suggestion, I am listening to Agalloch's "...And the Great Cold Death of the Earth" - holy Christ, this band knows their shit. So good..

I already love this song but when it pretty much word-for-word describes a relationship you just got out of maybe 2 weeks ago, you really appreciate it more.

...fucking drum machine...
Fight you, sir.

you're not honestly saying that real drums wouldn't have been better than the drum machine they used?!  i'm not trashing drum machines in general, but for rock music, they rarely work well.

haha, can your drummer take 600 drum kits to the rock n roll show?  Now I have worked with a number of good drummers and enjoyed that. But my drum machine has never been in rehab. Never missed a prac because his wife's sisters' dogs' birthday was in the  same week. Also my drum machine also plays all my keyboard parts. While "pounding" the "skins." So, so, yeah. I'm pretty happy with my drum machine. But I don't really utilize that much of the said capacity to do many, many things. Real drums and drummers are real cool. Whatever works. I like both but the mc808 is way more convenient and usable for me.

does a rock drummer NEED 600 kits?!  and the whole "never misses a practice" etc. thing implies that ALL human band members would be better off replaced by programmed instruments!

now i'm not trashing drum machines at all, but actually listen to "generation terrorists," the manic street preachers album that i mentioned -  for that genre of music, it just sounds WRONG with a drum machine.

rock and roll is ever changing.
No, hell no one needs 600 drum kits. That was hyperbole. But the nature of what I do I use drums from many different kits in a set. Also, I am prone to have to play for 3 hours. So variety keeps me from biting people.  heh. Sorry I've been torpedoed by people who are incapable of either keeping time, or telling time. I would never replace Maria with a bass sequence. She hardcore. And on the same page as me. It is easier with two people. So you are likely correct about the ManicSP's. But you never know?

Insane love is awakening.
That's what they said in a movie,
That's what they said in a movie.
It was a movie with dancing.
It was a movie with dancing and the red chested singing of golden voices
making their turquoise announcements of love.

Ask them for the name of this world.
That's what they said in a movie,
that's what they said in a movie
And I can only assume,
I can only assume that the answer was blue
or I can only assume that the answer was green
and blue

Whoaaaaa-oh

Insane love is awakening.
That's what they said in a movie,
that's what they said in a movie.
They said, ask them for the name of this world,
I can only assume that the answer was blue
or I can only assume that the answer was a breaking of an astronomical truce.
Or I can only assume that the answer was white
and phrased in a riddle in the shape of pure light
that issued from a killer draped in blue silk flashing silver.
Or I can only assume that the answer was white
and phrased in a riddle in the shape of pure light
that issued from a killer draped in blue silk flashing silver.
Or I can only assume that the answer was blue
it seemed like a lie but the truth was the truth,
that came from a child draped in white silk flashing silver.
Or I can only assume that the answer was blue
it seemed like a lie but the truth was the truth
that came from a child draped in white silk flashing silver
flashing silver like the knife of a killer,
like the knife of a killer.

Flashing silver like the knife of a killer,
like the knife of a killer.
Flashing silver like the knife of a killer,
like the knife of a killer.

Oh-oh

Flashing silver like the knife of a killer,
like the knife of a killer
and only when the cameras were shut down

only when the cameras were shut down

and only when the cameras were shut down

and only when the cameras were shut down

Just bought "The Trews - No Time For Later" CD (people still buy CD's !) because I liked the "I Can't Stop Laughing" song with its bagpipes in the intro. Found out the also had some other tracks on the same CD including the title track (score). On the other hand I also shelled out for the new Metric cd only to find it only had one song i like. Well perhaps they might release another single from it later that I can get used to but listening through the whole cd at least 3 times I think thats unlikely. First songs kinda catchy though.

spoon, is that from the new album? how is it (the album). I was always pretty 'meh toward CKY - although I do love Deron Miller's uber-metal side-project World Under Blood, with Tim Yeung of Vital Remains on drums and Luke Jaeger of Sleep Terror on guitar. Also has a couple gratuitous James Murphy (AWESOME!!!!)

Dick Dale & His Del-Tones - "Surf Beat"

I never really considered that a BSS album. It's just KC Accidental with a new name, essentially. It's great but since it's just the two founding members I rarely include it when thinking about the band's work.

the only song i've heard from the new one is "hellions on parade" which someone put a very low-quality rip of onto youtube.  it was pretty cool, and had a random synth solo-ey bit!
