I'm surprised they haven't just coopted the music they've written as the Foxboro Hot Tubs and just used that. Because that shit is pretty fucking excellent. I really don't know what they are smoking, trying to cling to the "FUCK ESTABLISHMENT" thing that has gotten them so much money when they clearly have money already and are clearly trying to break off from that shit and make real music anyway.

Oh uh what am I listening to

"Flux=Rad" - Pavement

I don't know how, but I KNOW I heard this song before I ever knew who Pavement were. Anybody got any ideas?

if you like that foxboro hot tubs album, you NEEEEEED to hear "buying the lie" and "songs to ____ to" by Death on Wednesday, like, yesterday or something.  they're a similar sort of thing - kinda pop punk with a 50s rock influence.  their singer also sounds like the bastard child of danzig and morrissey too.  in a REALLY good way.  their drummer went on to drum in The Bronx.  and the other fella in the band was called Kevin Smith (not THAT kevin smith!).

if anyone's interested, say so and i'll up it in the mediaf!re thread.

Been a while since I posted in this thread, so why not do it tonight!

Currently rocking a playlist in iTunes that I titled "ROAR!" - this list consists of only 3 albums; "Wake/Lift" by Rosetta, "Oceanic" by Isis, and "A Sun That Never Sets" by Neurosis. The more clever of you may divine the fact that this goes in reverse order of which band begat which other band.

All three of them are good!

i've still not checked out neurosis properly yet, but those other two albums are awesome!  "wake" by rosetta could possibly be my favourite post-metal song ever!

i'm currently listening to the new idlewild album (my pre-order arrived this morning - yay!!!).  it's like a mixture of the best bits of the last 3 or 4 albums, with a really summery feel - loving it so far!

I presume you've already checked out their full lengths Hidden World and Chemistry of Common Life? If not, I would recommend doing so...they're both as good if not better than the Year of the Pig single.

Listening to silence right now; Buried Inside's "Spoils of Failure" is in queue...

Right now, listening to a couple of tracks from the band City of Ships from their upcoming album Look What God Did To Us (which is a brilliant album title, btw). I don't know much about these guys other than that they are labelmates with Rosetta, they're heavy without really having the growl vocals, and I like them a lot!

I don't care what people want to say about this band, or the new album..it's good, and this song is one of the best riffs they've done since the  "Liberate Te Ex Inferis"[i/] album.
