I just found Swordfishtrombone on vinyl and am about ot put it on.

Edit:

My father went to a yard sale and bought a couple records, then the guy offered to sell us all of his records for $25.

All of his records turned out to be several boxes packed full, hundreds and hundreds of records. I've been picking through them and some are in okay condition, there were like 15 Elvis records...and this Tom Waits record doesn't have a single damn scratch on it.

YES.

The "rough" mastered leak of Riceboy Sleeps.

Holy fuck this is absolutely beautiful, even if it isn't finished being mixed yet. I'm so glad I gave in to temptation and got this, and I can't wait for the finished product.

I listened to SunnO)))'s live album 'Domkirke' three times in a row today. So awesome! I also almost bought the 2xLP vinyl set but it was $20 which is a bit more than I can spend right now sadly.

Es - Les fleurs sont des bonnes auditrices

Extremely experimental and amazing. Listening to Es is like something want's to fuck your cerebral cortex extremely gently with a sledgehammer while you are being induced an overdoce of every narcotic substance known to man.

Chris Connelly - Forgiveness & Exile

Connelly's one of the most under-appreciated singer/songwriters of today, IMO, even moreso because his past work with Ministry/RevCo thoroughly misrepresents the direction of his solo records.

I have been playing "In the Hall of the Mountain King" over and over again and have worked it out on guitar and now want to do a post-rock version of it. It has that same quiet-to-loud/slow-to-fast dynamic buildup to it already.

@Will- Glad to see another Zao fan.  Although I have to say, I don't like their newest album all that much.  I like most everything else, though.  Honestly, Funeral of God was my favorite.

So currently I've been listening to these CD's quite frequently.

Minus the Bear- Menos el Oso
Beirut- Lon Gisland

Yeah I know.  Mentions of three drastically different bands in the same post.  I can do even more if you'd like :)

It's definitely their weakest album since [Self-Titled], but I still like it. I don't think they'll ever top Liberate Te Ex Inferis though. I will always have love for Zao; they were the first heavy band I ever heard, and opened my eyes up to so much more great music. Plus they're from Pittsburgh!

Also, guys - the new mewithoutYou is super!

Oh, Pretty Woman - Roy Orbison

While trying to sing along, it seems to me that singers like Roy Orbison, Elvis Presley, and Frank Sinatra could sing fairly high notes without them sounding high.

This kind of bothers me (read: I wish I could do that).

@ SWOON- Yeah, those guys are crazy technical.  My fave track off that one is "Ember."  My only thing about Extol, however, is that I did get burned out on them quite quickly.  They are a nice listen every once in a while, however.

@Will- I think that Liberate Te Ex Infernis was really good as well.  Funeral of God was my first exposure to Zao, and this may be why it's always held a special place in my heart.  Zao was also one of the first bands of the genre I had discovered.

@ Those who've heard the new mewithoutYou- I've been debating whether to buy it.  How does it compare to their other CD's?  I'd say Brother, Sister is probably my fave.  Catch for Us the Foxes is a strong second.
