"Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You" - Led Zeppelin

Playing along on my Jaguar with both pickups, because I am really feeling shitty today. The two pickups and the tube stompbox I've got really give this song some extra ass-kick.

Alexisonfire - Old Crows, Young Cardinals.
Never really was a huge fan of this band; all their earlier stuff kind of bored me. But at the urging of a few forumites and other friends, I've given this a spin...and then another...and then another. It's good!

They are pretty alright.  I haven't listened to them in forever, but I do remember them having some pretty sweet riffs and enjoying their music when I was a bit younger.

Monteverdi - L'Orfeo

In some respects the first opera, this sits on the cusp of the renaissance and the baroque.  Even the way it is written and the instruments are notated are unclear to us, so there are still major disagreements about how it was meant be performed - but with drama  is always good in opera, and the Italian recording I am listening to has that in spades, and quite eclipses Gardiner's recording as a result.  I may upload it for you, in a few days.

This inspired me to listen to this...

Oh I liked the song just fine. But it didn't do anything for me to make me like them more. It wasn't as powerful as the first singles from their other albums. I haven't yet bought nor listened to their latest album, but I plan on doing so. They are still one of my favourite bands.

Anyways, uh, I'm listening to "You Are Pregnant, You Are Dead" by Xiu Xiu. Probably my favourite off Women as Lovers.

Red Right Hand - They Sang & Chanted for Hours, Then the Locked in Hundreds set Themselves Ablaze

I might have to stop though, it's giving me the fear. Just ridiculously crushing. The riffs sound like they're sucking all the joy from the world and then they hit you with some water torture beats, and then the silence but it suddenly comes back in and... Urgh.

Going to a used cd store and finding a cd for 99 cents, by a band called "Bear Claw," who were produced - 'engineered,' sorry - by Steve Albini is good...

Finding out they sound quite a bit like what Fugazi may have sounded like if they used multiple bass guitars rather than regular guitars is much better!

If you guys haven't heard of this band yet, you should consider checking them out...

Oh god, does this sound like the "indie kid cliche," but I think I still prefer the music from their first full length to anything else she's done...not that I don't like the newer music, but the self-titled full length was sooo fucking good.
"Truce" deserves to be on the list of saddest songs ever, "Orange Slide" is just goddamned creepy.

I am listening to an E.P. called "Not Much of a Man" by Toehider, which is the pseudonym of a Melbourne (formerly Perth) musician named Michael Mills. Mike used to be in a band called Template who played progressive rock which was alternately bombastic like Rush or Muse and atmospheric and moody like Camel or Gentle Giant. Since Template ended he has been making solo EPs under the Toehider name.

For the past 3 months, and continuing for another 9, he has been making one EP per month. "Not Much of a Man" is simple acoustic guitar and vocals stuff, and it is achingly beautiful.

You can stream the entire album for free, and get more information here. Please check it out.

Edwinalink I sent you a PM ANSWER ME

I was just playing Young Team by Mogwai and then How Strange, Innocence by Explosions in the Sky

Was showing my roommate "A Song For Our Fathers" which is just so amazingly wonderful that I love it to pieces and he asked, "When does it get good?" I turned and glared at him (decked out in his AC/DC shirt) and he said, "It's not metal," and turned and left.

Irony: The most metal thing he listens to is KISS and Dragonforce.
