Feeling rather depressed, so I've been listening to lots of old blues records. At the moment, "Travelin' Blues" my Blind Willie McTell is on.

Dr. Seuss is Dead by Acid Bath

Joker, I agree, it is a good album. Don't know why so many people on here dislike them.

I never met a person who knows about Acid Bath but dislikes the music. For me the album "When The Kit String Pops" is along with Esoteric's "The Manical Vale" the best albums I've heard in my life.

You gotta love that disturbing as hell chorus with the vocals:

We are the dead next door
Turned up to loud
Where the dirty needles shine and litter the floor
It's too fucking loud
Taste the light, inject the lord
It's too fucking loud
I cut my self again because I'm so fucking bored
It's too fucking loud
We are the dead next door
It's too fucking loud
Where the dirty needles shine and litter the floor
It's too fucking loud
Taste the light, inject the lord
It's too fucking loud
I cut my self again because I'm so fucking bored
Motherfuck yeah!

New podcast from Brad Rose previewing a bunch of upcoming releases on his Digitalis label. Tons of amazing stuff including new tracks from Zelienople, Xela, Sovetsktya Gone, Barn Owl side projects, and a lot of cool sounds from bands I've never heard of. In any case, it's a ton of amazing sounding music. I know where I'll be spending a lot of my money in the coming months...
Definitely give it a listen here: http://www.digitalisindustries.com/foxyd/podcasts.php?which=50

Man I've started spinning the new Pianos Become the Teeth album. Oh my god it is so much better than Saltwater. When I saw them bout two months ago they played these new songs though I really couldn't appreciate them not knowing them. God, I can't wait till August when I get to see them again. These new songs are so good! They have evolved quite nicely as a band.

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about they play a brilliant mix of post-rock and emo. It's really quite excellent.

Oh man, the new Clutch album is fucking awesome. It's not massively different but it certainly fills me up when I am looking for more bluesy stoner rock. Also the packaging is incredible. Crazy mystical/industial Mason art with foldout Abraham Lincoln cartoon and puzzle piece interlocking folds yessssssssss.

I bought it on release day, is it just me or did they remove most of the bass from the mix? Actually, might as well make a thread for the new album.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart - The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

I got this record after seeing lots of good reviews, and I have to say I'm sorry I did.  Even the best reviews of this album admit that originality isn't its strong point, but claim that it makes up for it in strength of songwriting.  While I certainly hear the musical influences (so much that recalling where I've heard bits of the songs before takes up most of my listening experience), I don't hear the songwriting quality at all.

The album, to me, suggests nothing more than some kind of average mean of every passable album filler track and b-side released by a British indie band from the mid-80s to the early-90s.  It's pleasant and immediately familiar and has no discernible personality of its own.
