Rocking a B.Dolan remixtape that Strange Famous Records posted yesterday...Buddy Peace remixes of different B Dolan cuts. I'm kind of disappointed that the dude more or less told the poetry scene to go fuck itself, but he's a damn good hip hop artist too, so it kinda evens out.

Right now I'm listening to a single by Greymachine-- a collaberation that includes Aaron Turner of Isis and Justin Brokerick of Jesu/Godflesh/Napalm Death.  The full album'll be released on August 7th, and if their single is any indication, it's going to SANDPAPER FACES OFF.

I am looking forward to having my face sandpapered off.

So Far Away by the Dire Straits.

It bothers me when people don't realize they have many more great songs other than Sultans of Swing.

Hmm, I should probably listen to more stuff by them. I only have Whip it on which is pretty amazing.

Now listening to Today's Active Lifestyles by Polvo for the first time. Impressed so far.

"Clumsy" by Samiam.

I've had "You are Freaking Me Out" for ages and somehow it's taken me until now to check out their other stuff.  Not sure if I like this one as much as YAFMO yet, but it's still damn good.  And Jason Beebout is such a fucking great vocalist.

Whip It On is good too, but Lust Lust Lust and Chain Gang of Love are great. I wouldn't really recommend Pretty in Black, it kinda blows.

I just recently discovered Today's Active Lifestyles too, good album.

"Kronberg" - Benjamin Wild
This is off Kompakt's Total 1. Downloaded a bunch of the Total compilations out of curiousity (I heard Kompakt's stuff is a big influence on Deerhunter), and the first one is pretty cool so far.

Kompakt has released some great stuff over the years, hard to go wrong there. Weird that Deerhunter lists their sound as an influence though.

Now listening to Superpitcher's Today (one of the best Kompakt albums ever imo)

Yeah, Deerhunter has some weird influences (according to Wikipedia anyways), like The Flying Lizards. I cannot hear that band in them for the life of me, but it's believeable as an influence.

I haven't listened to Mellon Collie in a while either. Still an amazing album.

Grizzly Bear-  Horn of Plenty

Just got rereleased on vinyl for the first time, and I'm wondering why this particular album is rarely talked about.  Effortlessly swoony lo-fi tunes with a twinge of psych.  Service Bell with the girls voice loop is brilliant.

The best kind of addiction there is. Just go easy on the bangers (no danger of that with Valerie though, so... carry on)

Now listening to Superpitcher's remix of M83's Don't save us from the flames. Such a good track.

I'm listening to Sloan in honour of Chris Murphy! He was the victim of a hit-and-run by a drunk driver, and will require surgery next week. He's still going to play the scheduled gig they have, but will only be doing vocals and staying away from bass. I learned this from their Twitter, but I just heard the details now. Let's all wish him a speedy recovery!

Tribal funk jazz, hell yes.  I can't understand how this was thought to be Davis' sell-out period; this still sounds brilliant 35 years later.

Kingston Wall - Party Goes On

"Kingston Wall was a psychedelic/progressive rock group from Helsinki, Finland. They were formed in 1987. Influenced by such artists as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, the group combined eastern themes, mysticism and vivid psychedelia with their unique, hard-edged acid-rock." -Last.fm

I have actually just now gotten a listen to My Bloody Valentine's Loveless, and I have to say, this is some of the best music I've ever heard.  It's a bit harsh and sharp, which is something I don't usually go for, but the sheer quality in a song like "To Here Knows When" is just astounding.  Also I would like to take Bilinda Butcher's voice out on a series of romantic, but charmingly simple dates, meet its family, marry it, and then sire several ethereal disembodied voices by rapid and non-stop consumation of said marriage.
