Grace by Jeff Buckley. I was impressed by it.

oh man, i remember the first time i heard that, a coupla years ago.  my girlfriend at the time put it on and i was all like "meh, it's alright..." and then it got to the GIANT wail thing and then... "...okay, NOW i like it!"  by the next day i'd bought myself a copy of the album!

i'm currently waiting on the arrival of two albums i've ordered, "The Ocean and the Sun" by The Sound of Animals Fightings (on a binge of all things RX Bandits-related atm...) and Defeater's "Travels."  The former has been kindly uploaded in its entirety on youtube and judging by what i've heard so far, it'll be worth every penny!  The latter is streaming somewhere on punknews.org, so i'll look that out once this one's finished...

i've actually listened to the stream before but it was ages ago.  i remember thinking it was really good though. similar feel to the last blacklisted album.  s'good stuff, i like my hardcore to be emotionally-heavy and mostly free of cliched breakdowns, and it seems a lot of stuff on deathwish right now it fitting that bill nicely!  i heard my brother (who usually listens to nothing but dubstep...) blasting out a coupla doomriders tracks the other day and it sounded badass, so i'll be checking those out soon too!

I am listening to Repeater by Fugazi for the first time ever. It is really rather good.

Also, the new Muse single pretty much constantly. It's radio-fodder, sure, but it's good radio fodder and it's also irrepressibly silly and that only makes it better.

I have actually just now gotten a listen to My Bloody Valentine's Loveless, and I have to say, this is some of the best music I've ever heard.  It's a bit harsh and sharp, which is something I don't usually go for, but the sheer quality in a song like "To Here Knows When" is just astounding.  Also I would like to take Bilinda Butcher's voice out on a series of romantic, but charmingly simple dates, meet its family, marry it, and then sire several ethereal disembodied voices by rapid and non-stop consumation of said marriage.

I just listened to Loveless tonight after hearing SO MANY RAVE REVIEWS OF IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN and expected to find myself an album that I would fall in love with (I think my expectations were raised highest by a comparison between that and Mr. Beast, which is one of my favourite albums).

It was so boring that I could not stand it. I really run into this a lot.

Anyways.

i haven't listened to loveless in ages but i remember it being pretty boring and underwhelming. i haven't met too many people who agree with me though.

i won the complete flipper discography and it arrived today.  two live albums, three studio albums and one compilation of mostly unlistenable, corruscating noise.  there are a few gems spread across the discs, but for the most part this is hard going.  maybe it'll grow on me...
