Secret, Profane & Sugarcane.

It's Elvis Costello's latest album.  Wonderful songs.

These guys are great! Too bad that two of them are dead nowadays, but at least the vocalist/drummer Remu Aaltonen is still alive and kicking.

I have to be really careful listening to that album, it is the one album that can actually depress me. Albums about the process of aging and the slow death it creates? I'll sing along happily (as long as it's in private). Songs about mutilation, murder, drug addiction, and rape? Fine. Fear of a Blank Planet one too many times? Puts me in a horribly depressed mood all day.

That's a good one, I should listen to that album more.

Now playing Set yourself on fire by Stars.

So I've been listening to Friendly Fires' self-titled quite a lot lately. Didn't really give it a proper listen until a week ago because of all the hype that accompanied it at release, but it's actually really good.

It is really good. It didn't feel like obvious dance-rock music, if you know what I mean.

I'm listening to Barricade by Stars. Not becaue you guys are listening to Stars and I want to fit in. I actually decided to give their records another listen since I saw their performance at the Rehearsal Hall on TV. Really great performance.

Maximum The Hormone - they are a strange cross between J-Pop and Death Metal. Loving it. If you know a little Japanese some of the lyrics are quite offensive, but otherwise it is basically work-safe. Favourite album so far is Ho (2001). Also called Ootori on the torrents, don't know why.

I realise they are called nu-metal on wikipedia, but to me they sound like death metal mixed with j-pop. Have to call it like I see it, even if it is considered something else.

Really, where do people draw the line anyway? Too much screaming to be nu-metal IMO.

there is a lot of nu-metal I fucking love. that is really brilliant shit... that just plain kicks it out...

...then, of course... there is all that SHIT.

but nu-metal as a genre has/had way to many talented individuals to just disregard because it stopped being trendy (or because it got trendy in the first place)

I mean, shit MachineHead did like 2 (If he never raps again, I will not shed a tear)really solid Nu-metal albums...

I just dont see the point of dismissing  any genre, because the prime examples for it are pootastic...

had I done that I never would have found out I like Aesop Rock, Blue scholar and atmosphere...

because as a whole I DESPISE the rap genre.

"Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash" by The Replacements.

Finally completed the set of reissues today, and along with the second disc of "All for Nothing/Nothing for All," and mp3s of the two songs they recorded in 2000-and-something for the other greatest hits, i pretty much have every song they ever commercially released.
