I don't need to check wikipedia to tell the difference between death metal and nu metal.

This is death metal:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFom-4Lnj9E

and this is Maximum the Hormone:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1c6VXfcoeB0

and this is a Nu Metal song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO_QntXc-c4

I hope my point is made.

Lights Out Asia 'March Against The Savages'

I love how this album only has a couple of tracks with vocals, so when the guy starts singing it seriously sneaks up on you. Great track.

So ... I loved green day since I was like 12 ... Don't give a rats ass if you're one of those "GAWD THEY SUCK" kind of people, you can't really help what appeals to you (though you can help what you expose yourself to)...
BUT I just listened to their last album...and I don't ever want to hear it again.

Now listening to
MC Paul Barman - "Excuse you."

Pure awesome silliness.

Paul Gilbert - "Amy Is Amazing"

Paul Gilbert's solo stuff is so good.  It's uncomplicated unpretentious well-written and well-executed.  Plus it's got a great sense of humour.

Into
Racer X - "Snakebite"

More Paul Gilbert!  If only next there came some Mr. Big!

I have to say I totally agree with you Green Day rant. I love Green Day too, but wow, their last album was shitty as hell. There is only one or two listenable tracks.

Close To You by Les Mouches.

Pretty cool cover of The Carpenters song. Which is a cover of a song by Richard Chamberlain. Which was written by Burt Bacharach. which is a pretty good pop composer.

Bernstein - Mass

A new recording conducted by Berstein's pupil Marin Alsop.  The performance is as good as the reviews say; but I don't like the sound engineering one bit (sadly that rather goes with it getting good reviews for that as well).

I wonder if I can track down their demo anywhere. It isn't great, in musicianship, songwriting, or production, but I like it.
