Strawberries - Asobi Seksu

It's been a while since I last listened to Asobi Seksu.  I can only take high pitched Japanese female singers in small doses.  This explains why I have downloaded their newest album but not yet listened to it.  Also, I think they just moved to Polyvinyl.  That label is cleaning up, they've got some really excellent bands now.

Elvis Costello - (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding

This song sounds like a Bruce Springsteen song.  Even his voice sounds like he's emulating the Boss.

Whipping Post - The Allman Brothers Band

I read an interview with Gregg Allman, and this song came up in it.

Gregg: The funny thing about the intro [to Whipping Post] is that after we played the song, Duane came up and said, "Hey, I didn't know you understood 11/4," and I said something intelligent like, "What's 11/4?" and Duane said, "I'll try and draw it up for you on paper, dumbass,".

How does Eno always make artists better?  Coldplay, I am looking straight at you.
Check out his biography (On Some Far Away Beach)

While I don't think even Brian could make Coldplay listenable, there is this quote from Chris Martin:
"Brian Eno taught it was ok to do something but besides a Radiohead copy." (Not an exact quote, I'd look it up but I lent out my book)

Viva La Vida was pretty okay, though!  I'm going to get things hurled at me for that probably, but it was actually a pleasant and relaxing listen instead of the boring junk they usually spit out.

I'm really falling in love with that band. Tey have incredibly energy on stage. Their music is just so damn good, catchy, raw and really great Also, it sounds like if Wolf Parade and Malajube had an english singing baby.

Not all locales have good local bands.  I lived in Charleston, SC for five years, and a "local band" there meant "jam band cover band."  You had to dig pretty deep to find good ones (which were legitimately good).

Charon - "Rust"

This is the song that convinced me to fall in love with this band.  Hooray for Pandora!

You got a point there, but something about a good band being from where you live/lived in for all your life, makes their music even better, even though no one should judge someone's music by the area they come from.

Oh, I agree that music is better if it's by people who come from the same city as you, but sometimes even that can't make certain bands palatable.

Circus Maximus - "Ultimate Sacrifice"

So cheesy.  Soooooo cheesy.
