re-ripping all my CDs in a slightly higher bitrate than before, which is a fucking epic task that's gonna take a coupla weeks... currently ripping "nothing for all" by the replacements, which means enjoying the likes of "portland" - yes!
What was the old bitrate? What is the new bitrate?
my library was all ripped at 128kbps WMA files, which was the default when i got my laptop (before i knew what bitrate was), and i kept at that rate/format once i knew what it meant, partly to save space, and partly for continuity (OCD much?).
however, i got a new laptop with a bigger harddrive, so i'm re-ripping all cds at 192kbps MP3, so it's a bit more flexible in terms of sending songs to mates/compatibility. and slightly higher quality (but any higher quality and i still won't fit it all on, as i have a metric buttload of cds). i'm not one of these guys who demands lossless or whatever - i never really heard any lack of quality in the old files tbqh.
