i'm not there
« on: 06 Oct 2008, 20:44 »

i don't like bob dylan all that much and i hadn't even heard much about this movie but i rented it tonight just because it sounded really interesting and wow  :-o

even the opening credits had me going "omfg david cross?  kim gordon??  heath ledger???"  i guess i rely too much on jackie to bring movies to my attention and he's never mentioned it.

but wow, i mean where did they find the black kid?  such an amazing actor!

the only problem is that i really don't understand the movie.  i mean i sort of get it but is there supposed to be an actual overall plot?   :?

It's a pretty hard-to-follow movie.  I got lost several times as well.  David Cross as Allen Ginsberg was awesome, though.

Yeah this was pretty much amazing.  Thanks, doll.

Did Cate win any awards for this?  Because she completely should have.

I don't get the whole OMFG Cate Blanchett thing. She was my least favorite Dylan of the entire movie. I mean it may have been because she was playing "Bob Dylan as drugged out asshole" but I just honestly don't see the whole fuss, as opposed to say Ledger or Ben Whishaw or Marcus Carl Franklin or hell, even Richard Gere's take on the role.

That being said, she did get the best line in the whole movie, when she totally burns Brian Jones.

Coolest trivia fact? In my opinion at least

Stephen Malkmus singing for Cate's Bob Dylan.
