Surely there's other Kevin Smith fans in the house.

So far this movie has been almost universally praised by critics (if that kind of thing means anything to you) and it even has guys like Rogert Ebert predicting it's going to be a hit.

If there's anyone that deserves one of those 100 million dollar plus comedy hits, it's the guy that created the audience for movies like Superbad and Knocked Up.

I think that Seth Rogen is funny, but that he's been in too many movies lately. We need a break so that we don't get tired of him.

I think he's admitted that that movie was entirely a fanservice.  Clerks and Clerks 2 are WAY better.

Clerks and Clerks 2 are not nearly as fart-joke oriented as J and SB.  There's still plenty to go around, but it's not the focus of the movies.  Clerks 2, in my opinion, is the better of the two; then again, I don't really remember Clerks 1 all that well. 

Jay and Silent Bob got pretty shitty reviews.

Clerks 2 got an 8-minute standing ovation at Cannes.

I want to see this but at the same time I don't... I'll probably wait until it comes out on DVD and rent it.

I liked Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma and Mallrats.  Really didn't like Jay and Silent Bob, and disliked Clerks II.  Note sure if this is just because they're the Kiven Smith movies I've seen most recently.

The Clerks cartoon is the best thing KS has ever done. Followed by Mallrats. I LOVE Mallrats.

I'm going to see it no matter what but I'm a little put off by the advertising. The one commercial I've seen (which referred to it as "Zack and Miri," btw) angled it as a romantic comedy a la Jersey Girl. I mean, all of Smith's movies are romantic comedies but they're certainly not straight rom-coms. I also think the female lead is too mainstream-hot (how I wish he could have gotten Rosario Dawson!), but again, I may be swayed by the Jersey Girl esque trailer.

See this is essentially my opinion of Clerks 2, but I quite enjoyed the original Clerks. It possibly helps that I've worked at a supermarket for some time? But yeah I am completely staggered by people rating Clerks 2 as better than the original.

I'm a straight chick and I'd do her! I just meant that she is not blonde and perky. Which are up-sides to me. Plus I like when directors re-use actors. But then I'd never even heard of let alone seen Elizabeth Banks in anything so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt.

Yeah, this might be the problem as I found Mallrats to be by far the worst of the Smith films (including Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) - it has a couple decent moments (sailboat etc) but overall feels thrown together. So I don't see Clerks 2 being more in the Mallrats vein to be a positive thing. I enjoyed Dogma, but yeah it was hardly subtle.

Looking forward to this film, mostly because I still find Seth Rogen funny (though I fully expect him to start irritating me rather than amusing me in the near future).

I'm sure that there are a lot more good-looking women who are short and brown worldwide than there are tall and white, given that there are just a lot more short and brown people than there are tall and white people. Rosario Dawson can please me anytime she wants, aesthetically or otherwise.

I watched Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back last night, and I actually found it kinda amusing - mostly the places where it was having a laugh at it's own expense like
Ben Affleck: C'mon man what have I told you, you gotta make the safe movie first then the artsy movie, then occasionally you gotta do the terrible movie because a friend says you owe 'im. *Affleck and Damon spike the camera*
or Chris Rock: I think George Lucas gonna sue somebody.

And surprisingly enough I didn't find any of the parts of it too groan worthy, I suppose because at least while it was stupid, predictable and completely low brow it wasn't doing my pet hate of modern comedy: Awkward is the new hilarious.

Dogma and Clerks were both fantastic IMO, my only issue with Smith is that he often has sections of dialogue that are too obviously scripted. He'll make a solid social commentary but it'll come out awkwardly, like from a convenience store clerk. It's too out of character for the dumbass to pull out the gem he does. I assume that's the point since something that obvious wouldn't go unnoticed by everybody but me but I still fiind it kind of off-putting.

Rosario Dawson: yeah she's hot but for some reason I'm not attracted to her as much as I think I should be. It's an odd conundrum. She also wasn't done up nearly that well in Clerks 2.

Finally, back to Zack and Miri, so pumped to see it although I agree that Seth Rogen is freakin' everywhere. Elizabeth Banks was in 40-year-old virgin (as the crazy chick who wanted his junk) and I saw some sexy pictures of her in a magazine () and thought HAWT! Didn't hear all that much from her and now her face is beside the word Porno. My attention, she was had.

I was reading some reviews, and was surprised at the negative reception.

Now, I really do like Kevin Smith. (As was stated before, Dogma is pure religious comedy genius, and Clerks 2 is hilarious. If your into that kind of humor.) However, the reviewer was careful to touch on a few points, namely the rather sad acting of the female lead. ( I don't know her name.... Banks maybe?) and the rather pointless dialogue and overall feel of the film.

Still, I will probably rent it.

Saw it tonight with my older brother and my parents, and despite the fact that I wish I'd never seen it with my brother and my parents, I haven't laughed that hard at a film for a very long time. I mean the jokes in this movie were incredibly dirty but there were some excellent laugh out loud moment that had the entire audience reeling for quite a while. Of course, you should be warned of, and this I suppose is a SPOILER:

Besides the fact that there is just a ton of nudity, I wasn't prepared to see Jason Mewes full frontal. And Randall from Clerks gets shit on quite literally, can't remember his real name at the moment.
