Man, why people got to come to Edinburgh when I'm not there?

Yeah, man, my mom and sister and I all have tickets. Groove Armada and a bunch of other people are going to be there. Not too hyped about Groove Armada, but fuck it, I get to be in Scotland when 2009 rolls in.

Hey everyone, I need to buy some new bookshelves. When I get back from Ikea and put them together you're all invited to the bookshelf launch party.

I would be down for meetups, if I can manage to get away from my mom and sister long enough. Or fuck it, they might not care if we all just met up with you. I don't know how long after New Year's we're going to be in town, but I'll keep you posted, Mai.

Such things are keeping my mom and I from going to Turkey for Thanksgiving like we were planning.

At least my mom has a sense of humor.

I might be doing a thing again where I fly in to Edinburgh and take the train to Queen Street Station, since otherwise I would have to fly through Amsterdam. Then again, if things have changed as far as flight routes because of the economy tanking, I might end up flying through Paris or something anyway.

My mom's done Hogmanay in Edinburgh several times. Over the last 10 years, she's spent maybe 3 total in Scotland (spread about on vacations and whatnot). She's made plenty of friends all around thanks to the Inter-Nets, and so we're going to be visiting a lot of them.

Depending on how long you guys are all in Glasgow, I might be able to meet a fair number of you. My mom's best friend and her family are almost all in Glasgow, so naturally I'll be in Glasgow sometime after the New Year hits.

Do I hear a not-very-well-planned-but-still-possible Glasgaecon 2: Electric Boogaloo coming on?

Actually, I haven't been through to the Capital in quite a wee while so a trip to Edinburgh sounds like fun.

If you guys happen to all converge on Edinburgh on a day that isn't New Years Eve I might be seriously tempted to make a trip up. I fucking love that city.

If you're in Edinburgh, there's basically no chance we won't come and see/kidnap you. Glasgow and Edinburgh are basically siblings in the fact that the town centre of each is only about an hour away from each other.

I'm gonna be in the U.K. until the 11th, so if you've got a day between New Year's Day and then, that'd probably be cool. I can probably convince my mom to let me meet strangers on the inter-nets. True story, that friend in Glasgow? That's how they met.
