Your secret geeky desire

Mine is currently one of these:

Now if only I could justify the price for a custom-made one plus postage and handling from Norway.

Haha, I can't stop laughing. I seriously think the guy who made that one is my neighbour back home. He's always working on some Star Wars costumes (and apparently others as well) in his back yard, and the first picture is taken downtown in my hometown. On New Years eve last year, he was walking around in a Darth Vader costume outside, and this is him and his kid, I think.

Awesome.

As for geeky desires, I have a whole goddamn folder of them, but I haven't imported it after a reinstall of OS X. Might get back to the thread.

ETA: Most definitely him. Our house and boat are in one of the photos on page 40 :p

Most everything I do has some degree of geekery to it. I could be gettin' blown by three godesses and see, already, how I related this to myth and fantasy?

I'm trying to think of which aspect of my personality is particularly geeky. I am not actually very geeky apart from when it comes to music.

It occurred to me the other day that it would be great to watch an entire record come into existence from nothing. I think I would love very much to spend my time watching bands record music at Electrical Audio studios in Illinois and then follow the record to be mastered and eventually set onto vinyl. If you actually think about that, the desire to sit around a bunch of machines which collect vibration and store them on magnetic tape is very geeky indeed but I would profoundly like to do it, nonetheless. I feel like it would be enormously satisfying to watch the process as it evolves.

The romanian PSL Dragunov clone. Not exactly like a Dragunov, but very similar. I've seen them in a magazine for $700 and I really think I want one.

I thought that was a Zastava M76 at first, Troll. I wish EAA would start importing them. I hear the PSLs are nice, though.

I have a lot of them, but I think the biggest one, though the geekiness could be argued, is to get a bunch of land up in the mountains, someplace where it rains and fogs a lot, and have a big house built, gothic architecture mixed with not being horribly drafty like buildings old enough to be original gothic architecture would be. Also would have enough room for a rifle range at least 1000 meters long (not inside, on the property). Making it more geeky, I would store up supplies for the zombie apocalypse. Everyone has a hobby. And yeah, burt gummer is kind of my idol.

Right now just WotLK. It's considered a secret desire because my boyfriend did offer to buy it for me, but I said no because I had just gotten a job and knew  wouldn't have time/energy to play it. And I really don't. Yesterday was my day off and I spent almost all day sleeping. But I've have watched my boyfriend play it and it looks so awesome. >_< They have walrus guys that ride turtles!

I want this complete collection. Sadly I am broke.

I would also enjoy having every issue of X-Men since the 1980s...In particular, complete collections of Xtreme X-Men and Ultimate X-Men, but also Uncanny, since that is where all of the awesomeness stemmed from. (I would say every issue ever, but the original comics were kind of lame and repetative...I also don't like how every sentence ended in either ! or ? and sometimes both...grrrrrr)

They're all on Bit Torrent if you just want to read them all. I spent my gap year reading the entire X-Men chronology to date and then realised that I actually don't like comic books.

i'm actually not as geeky as i may seem sometimes. i'm not into sci-fi or fantasy, i don't read comics, and i'm not a serious gamer.

i would want to write/publish a book someday.  yes, i consider this a "secret geeky desire" as opposed to an actual goal, because i'm not actively pursuing it.

first of all: i have an Australian Shepherd, she'd be fine.

second of all: obviously, i would bolt everything to the floor that i didn't want floating around. also, things would be bolted to ceiling/walls as necessary.

see? it's perfect. also; i could invite people over who didn't know about it, put on some ankle weights or something under my pants, and slowly reduce the gravity when they weren't looking to freak them out.

they'd be all "did i just get lighter?" and i'd be all "naw"

Your secret geeky desire is to have an MLC SSD?  Intel are releasing superior SLC-based SSDs next year.

Anyway, my secret geeky desire would be to write these books I have in my head, then have a decent development studio approach me about releasing them in game format.  I would advise the initial design process and then oversee QA when it was near completion.  After the games were done the dev company would keep me on to do similar things with other projects because I'd be fucking rad at it.

THE END.
