Its about damn time there was some hipster backlash against Dexter.  I quit after season one, decided, you know what, I really dont like it.  And have been pretty much persecuted since.

My brother and I watch this show a lot; pretty much every episode that is aired and online we'll see within a day or two of it being available.
NOT because it's something to identify with or aspire to.
NOT because of the clever storytelling.

We do because it's entertaining and has hot chicks, amusing plot twists (Oh, really? An abortion that comes back to haunt a character hoping it would all be over? Wow ...), lovably hateable characters [CHUCK] as well as very good editing.

The term "lifestyle porn" hits the hammer on the head and then breaks the board it's driven through.

I Love Gossip Girl. I read the whole series before the show came out, and I liked them and they were all right. The show takes them to a whole new level.  I love the acting and the drama is insanely hilarious to watch. Season 2 has kind of disappointed me but I LOVED the last episode. But that's probably because I love Chuck and Blair together, and just Chuck by himself. It was insane to watch and I'm sad I missed it and had to watch it on the internet. Sidenote : isn't it better to watch shows on tv? I think so.

And Ps : I watch dexter too. Im actually watching dexter season 2 DVDS atm. haha.

Okay that might be my new favorite episode of the show so far. They've really been outdoing themselves this entire season.

Re: school kids with fake IDs going to fancy bars and drinking martinis

I live where this takes place. My ex-girlfriend could very well be on the show, were it a reality show. In fact, her mom was slated to be on The Real Housewives of New York but she turned the producers down.

What do obscenely wealthy kids with fake IDs do? They drink a couple of Mike's Hard Lemonades at night in Riverside Park and pretend to be fucked up. A lot of them smoke embarrassing amounts of weed, also in the park.

None of them are capable of formulating most of the sentences spoken on this show. They're supposed to be shallow high school students, not linguists.

As a work of fiction it's quite good though.

This episode was kind of weak. Taking Blair back in with the "girls of the steps" really downgraded her character, and while it was cool she learned a lesson of some sort this episode, it's not going to do anything good.

Nate and Vanessa are so forgettable at this point that I don't even care, and I wish they'd taken a little longer to resolve Jack Bass, but they resolved it well. Serena and Dan look like they're finally done for good, which is really excellent, and I'm starting to really like Eric. Lily and Rufus are still the best couple on the show.

Heh, I didn't even notice when Nate and Vanessa were gone for an entire episode a couple of episodes back (Nate's absence wasn't even explained?).. I think I might potentially like the Nate character, so it kinda bugs me that they can't seem to find an interesting storyline for him, but for now they're both just really redundant.

I used to like Lily and Rufus, but the whole kid-storyline kinda ruined them for me. Rufus started to really bug me more than usual with his whole insistance that they meet with the kid/family. It's called a closed adoption for a reason. But I like that Lily is sort of embracing Chuck, and I like her in general, so I'm not sure what to think about them, really.

Also, Dorotha makes me chuckle.

I kind of liked the newest episode.  The Dan/Serena bs is over, and Mrs Carr seems as reasonable level headed as Rufus.  Definitely a good addition to the cast provided she sticks around.  Jack on the other hand is a knob, the whole rape thing was unnecessary unless it has some unforced repercussions in the future.

Also, Chuck Bass is one of the few dudes I've ever encountered on television who actually smolders.

After seeing even part of Superbad, I don't think I can ever take the standard, glamorous hollywood take on one's teenage years seriously again (if I ever did).  High school is about being awkward, not very good looking and not nearly as cool as you think you are.  Glamor doesn't enter into it.  No, I've never seen the show.

I am looking forward to this a lot.

The show is an exercise in over-the-top lifestyle porn for me and I like my porn without serious setbacks. The girls on the steps are like seeing swinging balls for 30 seconds straight for me.

You know when sometimes you are watching porn and it cuts to a long shot of the dudes ass and balls?

That's what he means.

They are like watching a dudes ass and balls when you wanna see titties.

Exactly.
It was totally in keeping with the (lifestyle) porn analogy.

I think once the second season is finished, it is time to watch it all over again.

And whatever happened to Marcus Beaton and his mom? It's peculiar that two high-profile characters disappear that quickly.

They were blackmailed into leaving town when it was revealed they were banging each other? Or maybe they just left afterwards. Whatever it was, they were banging each other.

Very high on the drama. Shows like this produce estrogen in everybody.

Oh man I agree. I was maybe a little afraid of the transition to college, as many shows don't pull it off well, but honestly they did it seamlessly. It's perfect. I am happy and outraged at the same time, mainly because of Georgina being a bitch as always.

yayyyy

Also, Dan is SO much hotter this season.

Loving Chuck and Blair as a couple, too.

Last episode wasn't great, but probably mostly because of the lack of the big reveal.

I hope Chuck does well with his hotel.
