Should be awesome. I haven't heard the Kyuss song, or paid attention to the Mastodon song (it's on NFS:Most Wanted, so I frequently find myself more interested in the SUV trying to ram me than the song). At least two of the songs from other bands are on the Garage Inc. album. Makes me wonder if the Queen song is going to be Stone Cold Crazy. The tuesday's gone cover on Garage Inc. is actually pretty good, and has Pepper Keenan singing one verse.

Funny that half of the black album is on there, but so far only one song from each of their first three. I bet they end up putting One on there, as well. They already have the note chart done, same with Enter Sandman (or is that one on rock band?).

And I agree with Ninjas.

My dislike for Bobby Kotick is clashing for the urge to play Blood and Thunder.

I'm pretty sure Dave Mustaine wouldn't agree to his work being in a Metallica product.

Does anyone else think that "Capillarian Crest" would have made for a more awesome Guitar Hero track than "Blood and Thunder?"

As a plain old Guitar Hero track, yes, definitely..

But that song has no vocals, which this game supports.  So Blood and Thunder is a pretty good substitute.

Meh, I'm not huge on Metallica, but No Excuses is my favorite Alice In Chains song, and Bob segar's Turn the Page is far superior to their cover of it. And I guess I even like most of those Metallica songs that they have listed, though it looks like they may as well have just said The Black Album, since 5 out of 11 songs are on it.

I bet they are going to have a lot more songs than that, I think that they are trying to feed out bits at a time, to keep people excited. Hopefully they will be smart enough to add a lot of the earlier songs.

I like No Excuses (and Alice in Chains in general, actually), but I'm a bit suprised it was selected. I mean, of the major grunge bands, I'd say that AIC owed the most to the loads of guitar school of songwriting (Facelift's We Die Young is all about the Big Riff, even the tempo makes it some weird cross between a rocker and a dirge), but No Excuses isn't really very representative of that tendency. There's a fair bit of electric guitar on all of their albums, but the foundation of the Jar of Flies EP really was the acoustic guitar work and the Staley-Cantrell harmonies. I guess you can make a fair argument that it's a good way of adding some variety without completely breaking from the heavy riffing mold, since there is a solo and quite a bit of electric embellishment on it. I'm certainly not complaining either way; I'm not really into GH games, but the addition of No Excuses certainly doesn't hurt their chances of suckering me into this one.

Yes, they are going to have 45 songs all up, and 60% are going to be Metallica songs. Which means they'll have to do a lot more than just Black album songs.

Also the PC versions are really hard to find in the store and lag behind the console versions by at least 8 months. :x (The newest release is GH3: Aerosmith, with GH3 bundled, for $80 and the only place I can find it is online at Best Buy.)

I like Demon Cleaner, but it's not really that representative of their usual aesthetic; it sounds almost like Kyuss covering a Tool song, something I must not be alone in thinking, since Tool has been known to cover it on occasion.

There are vocals for that song. With lyrics, even. It's "Bladecatcher" that has the AHUAGHGHAGLABLBLBALABAALALAAAWAGGAGUUGUWABL*whistle*WAUGHGHGHAAAAGL singing, and "Pendulous Skin" that has Brent sounding like he's stoned off his ass and has forgotten the lyrics.

For those of us who own the other records; yes, "Joseph Merrick" and "Elephant Man" are both all instrumental..

But in GH... Fuck it, they should have done "Hearts Alive".

Extra songs look pretty good. Here's hoping for a few better metallica songs to come in, too. Frayed Ends of Sanity would be epic. Also I don't think Bleeding Me or Outlaw Torn would be too unreasonable, surely?

Knowing Brent I'm going to assume it doesn't just sound like that. That is a fellow who quite enjoys the occasional marijuana cigarette.

Ok, so me and Kat are probably going to be both RB2 and GH IV and the Metallica pack at some point, the only thing I'm unsure of is this... which one has better instruments? I've been able to find fuck all about comparison's between the 2 instrument sets.

I mean, it's for the 360, so all of the instruments are compatible, but I have no idea how the instruments compare and all we need to know is which instrument pack we're getting. Anyone used both that can give a decent comparison or a link to one?

The funny thing about this is that when Kyuss toured as an opener for Metallica they blew them off the stage so often that Metallica's sound guy insisted on lowering their volume just so the headliner wouldn't get upstaged ...

"50 Million Year Trip" would've been a better Guitar Hero song than "Demon Cleaner" though.

Also, the buttons feel a little closer together, so it feels easier playing hard and expert-level songs in RB than it does in GH.

Hope it's not too much of a crime to resurrect this, but the demo sneaked onto the Xbox marketplace, grabbed it today.

Demo songs are Sad But True, Seek and Destroy, then No Excuses by Alice in Chains and Stone Cold Crazy by Queen. Had a quick run through Sad But True on drums and really enjoyed it. Whether it's the song itself or something with the game, had more fun playing that one song than I did playing anything on GH : World Tour. My hopes are alive again, at least!

my gh:wt setup came in the day before yesterday and so far i am disappointed with the songs. mostly because they are too easy but they are the first songs. i'm hoping it gets more challenging.

It's way better than World Tour. I dunno what they did to it, but it just feels better. I also think they change what sounds your drums make during fills from song to song. (??)

The songs are fun, and they really sound great. I'm really enjoying most of the tracks, rather than in WT going "oh yay another 4/4 hat-hat-hat-hat/snare pop song :P"

I don't have the 2nd pedal yet so I can't vouch for Expert+, but I think I like playing through without, then going back and playing the songs with. I've started keeping track of which songs have 2xB

The person playing Bob Rock would activate star power by telling the guitar player to "give it a little more Hetfield."

Or on the Death Magnetic songs you would be playing as Rick Rubin and your job would be to push all of the faders up as far as they will go and to activate "Compressor Power!"
