external sound card for recording purposes?
« on: 01 Jan 2009, 14:57 »

Hey guys, I am in the market for an external sound card, both for trying to eliminate shitty interference from plugging the mic to my PCI card and for extra ports). I would like something under $300 with plenty of options. I hear M-AUDIO makes good parts like that. If you have one and love it, please tell me about it.

as far as I can tell, it fits well in here. it is heavily music related, isn't it?

The M-Audio Firewire Solo is pretty decent and you can find it super cheap now.  It's very basic, but it doesn't sound like you're looking for something huge.  At the very least it's a good place to start researching audio interfaces online.  Whatever you do, get something with Firewire, USB just doesn't cut it.
