The Wrens - back in the studio
« on: 12 Jan 2009, 21:16 »

Oh man guys The Wrens are back in the studio as of 19 January.

Quote from: email I just got
But with brevity as our theme, really just writing to say that:

- 2009 marks our 20th year as a band. Mindbending.
And most of us we’re in our 40’s when we met. Kidding.

- we’ve just released a new song, Pulled Fences, our first since the Meadowlands, and another milestone, the first time the four of us were in one room working on new music in exactly 10 years.
Trees make quicker progress.

- next Monday, the 19th, we begin recording in earnest for the next album etc. in our basement.

- you can read all about this on our spanking-new website

This is incredibly awesome.

Cool!! I love The Meadowlands. I have great memories of seeing The Wrens something like 4 or 5 years ago in a little church basement in Philly where they rocked incredibly hard despite looking a bit old and pudgy. The bassist climbed up on the rather large speaker at one point only to fall off, hitting someone in the head with his bass. Antics aside, they put on a terrific show. In other words, I can't wait for the new album and the tour to go with it.

I am not a big Meadowlands fan unfortunately. I don't even listen to The Wrens a whole lot anymore, but damn was Secaucus a damn hell ass album.

The Meadowlands was pretty good, it should be interesting to see if they still have that kind of energy in them.

Meadowlands was amazing, when songs from it come on in shuffle I always go listen to a few more from the album, most artists to licit such a response from me.

Needless to say, Stoooooked!  (as an optimist I assume it will be great until proven otherwise)

didn't think a new thread would be worth making but

I guess Funeral is coming out this year? (never a sure thing with these guys)

based on some of the songs/demos so far, it sounds like some more of The Meadowlands, which is good, since it hasn't been long enough for them to start making dad-rock.

drinking and listening to the wrens tonight
