That's terrible. I can relate, I have a crazy family too. I had to move to another country and put lots of water between us to free myself at least half-way from them.

This won't do anything to solve your situation, but it might make you feel a little less panicky. My shrink taught my two breathing techniques the other day that I find very helpful when I feel a panic attack or a bout of anxiety coming on:

#1: Take a deep breath into your belly while you (slowly) count to three, hold your breath while you count to three, and breath out again. Repeat as often as neccessary.

#2: Breath in, then breath out and relax your arms and shoulders. Next time you breath out, relax your jaw and forehead.

I find these actually helpful, hope they help you to feel better! :)

Sadly, I did not aquire any superpowers from my cat's bite. Isn't that usually the deal? (My superpower of choice: Be able to transform into any animal. That way, I could talk to animals AND fly!)

Do I deserve this though?

Generally if you are the kind of person that would ask that question then yes you deserve it.

It's the sort of person that would accept something like that without putting too much thought into it that doesn't deserve it.

It's only bad if the dude comes back and becomes a stalker or something.  But from the story I am assuming that he isn't.

I can't breathe, and I don't want to be at work right now.

Family trouble is always the worst.  I am always at my weakest when dealing with relatives.  Just remember who you are and try to get through it without forgetting.

Krina, my cat's name was Spiderman. And he acted similar to your cat.

And the breathing techniques are helping a little.

Caleb, its not really family trouble, but I know they'd love this little tidbit of news, and they'd hold it against me, and make things worse. So it is better that they don't know.

So some people at my college are trying to get Michelle Obama to come to our commencement (since this year our first senior class will be graduating). To this end they have pressed a shitfuck of cards for students to write in their own messages, which will then be sent to the First Lady's office.

This is all well and noble, except for when the cards themselves have the misspelling of the word "Spirit" as "Sprit" on the cover of the cards.

Awesome.

Maybe they're miss-spelled deliberately? To appeal to pity - "Oh I'd better go visit these poor, stupid children, and pretend that our education system isn't failing them and their future."

My middle school liked to put up a Word of the Month on their marquee, usually some second-grade-reading-level word with three syllables extolling the virtues of their education and the brilliance of their students.

Except one month it was "EXELLENCE."

That's right, exellence.  Big, fat, fuckin' [sic].

I know that there is prejudice and ignorance hidden in that post but it's too vague to be defined.  It sets off warning flags but I don't know which ones.

Holy shit guys, Yao Ming is really fucking tall in person. And very intimidating because of his height. It doesn't matter that he is smiling, he is still super intimidating. I handed him keys. I told him his room number and check out date and I felt just a little bit scared. But, honestly, I was smiling really wide at the fact that I was handing keys to a motherfucking professional basketball player who is a giant. Dude is nice too.

Hey that's cool, Jace! I want to meet Yao Ming because I am five feet tall and it would be funny. And probably terrifying.

So blog thread I kind of blurt dumb things sometimes, oh well.
The weather's rainy and lovely here and it clears the smog enough so that the surrounding mountains are visible. And they're covered in snow. They're tiny mountains but it's fucking majestic. I need to go snowboarding.

Hi bloggles!
So I guess I have a date tomorrow night?  Cute boy from the bar and I are going to see the worst movie we can find that isn't Twilight and make fun of it together.  I have cast my vote for some kind of pickaxe murdery gore horror called My Bloody Valentine that just looks so amazingly bad!  I am a bit terrified though because I have never been on a date before in my life and I am freaking out and thinking about how much I enjoy being single and AHHHHHHH.

but woo, a date I guess!

Blogginess:

I have just been told that the belovéd head of my department is leaving us to go and set up a new research facility in Qatar.  I suppose someone in Qatar may find this news exciting, but actually, I don't <yawn/>.  He plays drums rather well, which I found a little surprising in a high-flying medic (for no good reason, I admit).

So, I am watching this trainwreck of a show, "Beauty and the Geek" and I swear, it is the most (possibly unintentionally) hilarious show I have seen, because both sides are absolutely ridiculous. There is a professional Betty Boop, and a guy who called his mum to talk him up when he was trying to impress the girls. My favourite line so far was when one of the girls described a guy as "a diamond in the rust".

One of the guys (a LARPER) reminds me so much of my brother, and it is hilarious. He looks like him and has a lot of the same mannerisms, just replace the LARPing with music nerdery. Hell, I wouldn't put it past my brother to do some sort of LARP-type stuff. I am just sitting here laughing at the whole thing, and simultaneously feeling bad because I watch so much rubbish.

This never fails to crack me up. Texted version of something from the Norwegian version of that show, and it kinda hurts to watch.

Blog thread, my slightly hellish week is soon over! There's a party I have to go to in a couple of hours, which I don't really want to go to, but at least I've bought semi-nice clothes and new shoes, and I'm not dreading it too much. A little bit, though. And then I need to finish one last assignment tonight/tomorrow, before I'm doone. I still need to study for a couple of midterms next week etc, but at least I have a few days available for that.

Also, watching ones skin clear up after having had issues with it for like 2 years feels awesome. I just hope it's not a temporary thing.

There are so many movies out here at the moment that are so seemingly aimed at a date audience but seriously if I am going to try to put some moves on a woman for the first time I do not want to see:

a) a 3d horror movie about the romantic holiday that is the day after
b) some kind of fucking 'date movie' based off a book that was based off a line from a television show  based on a book with a cast so long they had to put it in alphabetical order to avoid conflict
c) any kind of Jason Statham movie or sequel or live art performance.

Basically my best bet is Changling because lets face it, that way we'll have someone's tits to talk about to break the ice.

Why aren't you going to see Changling with your boy Jodie, it is the best choice.

Or at least go to the classic cinema and see some James Dean or some shit, fuck he's hella sexier than Angelina Jolie and you know it.

I bet when he goes to China they're all like "OH NO! GOJIRA!" and then other people are like "Hey, that's Japan. And besides the inherent racism of assuming all Asian cultures are alike it's sort of a racist caricature of Japanese people in the first place to assume that they fear very tall people as though they are movie monsters. I'm sure Japanese people are as comfortable with very tall people as anyone else. Also, I learned English, which is cool."

It's too bad that tons of people aren't very comfortable with extremely tall people. I suppose it's a fairly understandable visceral reaction though, especially in the case of Yao Ming. I mean, the guy is an shy of being 7 and a half feet tall with his shoes off. I'm personally fairly desensitized to the really damn tall people thing, for the most part, since Yao's the second tallest guy I've seen in person.

Hi blog thread.

It's half eleven in the night now and I'm practicing a monologue. Which means that I'm better then all the people that does anything else at high school. Again.

I just fucking love drama class.

And our school was open in the evening with some pretty cool lectures. They do it once in a year, and the teachers are allowed to teach whatever the hell they want. Like prostitution in the 16th and 17th century or how there's no democracy in America. It's pretty cool.

Blogthread's Missed Connections:

Me- Dude who didn't have a lot of money on hand and looking for something cheap and microwavable in the campus bookstore for lunch. You- Sanctimonious twat who swatted a Hot Pocket out of my hand.

So I go up to the freezer in the campus bookstore because I wanted something to eat, preferably a Hot Pocket. A girl and her friend were extolling the virtues of the vegan, more healthy microwavable fare and opened the freezer for me because she thought I was going to get the spinach pocket or whatever instead. Almost immediately she is taken aback by my alternate, unhealthy choice of foodstuff, tells me that it's going to give me heart disease and a stomach ache, and despite my assertions that I didn't really care because I was too lazy and didn't have enough cash on hand to stave off heart disease at the moment, took the Hot Pocket out of my hand and put it in the freezer. I promptly took it back, thanked her for having such genuine interest in my well being (to which she just scoffed at) and proceeded to buy it. I was feeling pretty offended that some random person would suddenly appoint herself my fucking health counselor especially when her fucking advice wasn't FUCKING GODDAMNED ASKED FOR, THEN ACT BUTTHURT WHEN I VOLUNTARILY AND OF MY OWN FREE FUCKING WILL DECIDE NOT TO HEED IT!

TL;DR: Am I justified in thinking that this person should go fuck herself or do I need to take anger management classes again

Overhearing bus conversations can be kinda fun. I stood next to two missionary girls today, and the snippets of their conversation I heard kinda had me going wtf. ŤI'm so tired of fighting with people on the street, on the team... I'm just like..INGER MARIE!ť, ŤSometimes I wonder.. I mean, there are some things.. I wonder what God wants me to do.. If this is it.. I'm doing his work, but should I be?ť, ŤAnd I'm so shocked by what he did.. Like, he has money. That's his contribution to the plan. But he'll suffer in other ways, I guess. He'll survive, but be punished later.ť and ŤI sometimes wear a little mascara, but not often, because it just looks so loose..ť were some of the things said.

Also, someone puked on the table at the dinnerparty I was at today. It was at this super fancy hotel, so the invitation said "Don't drink much beforehand, we'll go out afterwards, so there's plenty of time for drinking." Well, the girl I hang out with the most at school plus a couple of other people basically turned up completely shitfaced, and they were the only ones there even remotely drunk, and we ended up by the same table. As mentioned, one of them puked on the table (the one I hang out with the most at school.... I need new friends), one of them basically spread all of his dinner out on the tablecloth and ate from there (right next to the puke) and the third one just kept laughing and yelling during every speech about how boring the speeches (which were at times quite funny) were, and she also made up a person so she could get a second, free dessert. It was so fucking embarrassing, everyone at the table looked really uncomfortable and didn't really know what to say. I feel sorry for the waitresses as well. Upside: I kinda talked a little bit to some other people from school who I haven't really talked to at all, and might have appeared normal, since we were all sort of "Uh, wtf is going on with those guys?" and had something to look repulsed by together. But still, gross. I really need to get to know some new people, but it's difficult.

Guys, my daughter's aunt got her valentines gift from her husband today.  Chocolate covered bacon.  I made a face when I heard about it, but she made me try it anyway.  My mouth was confused and my brain said "WTF!" but it was actually really really good.  Fortunately, it's crazy expensive to buy and then ship to the house, so I'll likely never have it again.  This is a good thing, I think.

Good news and bad news blog thread,

Good news is that my best friend took time away from her busy schedule to sit with me by the lake today. We had a heart to heart. It was good times. Then we had bad thai food.

Bad news is, one of my most anticipated games of this year / the next, the Aliens RPG being fashioned by Obsidian Entertainment, has reportedly been cancelled. I knew some people working on it, they were really enthusiastic about it. It could get worse, as according to ye Joystiq this puts the future of Obsidz itself in jeopardy. Fingers crossed they make it out okay.

Why aren't you going to see Changling with your boy Jodie, it is the best choice.

Or at least go to the classic cinema and see some James Dean or some shit, fuck he's hella sexier than Angelina Jolie and you know it.

Brett, i want to see a terrible movie and make fun of it!  It has been so long since I last sat trhough a really terrible horror/slasher film in the cinemas and giggled endlessly at it.  Also we don't get the 3D version of My Bloody Valentine. Disappointed!  That would be even worse (better)!
And I considered going to see the 1955 Dracular (with Christopher Lee) which is screening at the classic cinema but it is expensiver and the seats are hella uncomfortable and I want to watch something with pickaxe murders that essentially has nothing to do with Valentines day at all, other than people dying on Valentines.  It is going to be awesome.

I hope your date is going well RIGHT NOW

I am currently on security watch, I guess? To make sure that undesirables do not make it through the front entrance of the hotel.
There are enough cops here that you'd think there was a murder. And enough other security to think that a bunch of players from the NBA are staying here.

One of the previous two statements is true.

Hat, fuck that girl. Seriously. Fuck that noise.

I kinda know the feeling. Everybody at work has been dieting lately. I am not. Most of them are in decent shape. I am not. I am totally over weight. I regularly say "I'm such a fattie" jokingly(as in, my weight does not affect me much, but since other people make such a big deal about girls being a half pound over weight, I giggle about my many many pounds over weight). Today, while telling a coworker the amazing details of this weeks stress, another coworker walks up, holding a candybar, and announces to us how many calories in it. Its getting really fucking annoying. I am so sick and tired of "I can't eat this! There's 200 calories in it!" and all the fucking mopeing that goes along with fucking dieting. Jesus. Today, my lunch was a fucking bag of potato chips, and an order of hot wings. The day before, I had a sandwich on half a demi loaf of cheese bread, with turkey, cheese, and two delicious thick slices of bacon.

I fucking love eating. I love bacon, and bread, and steak, and fruit(fuck you you motherfucking atkins bastards. I don't give a shit how many god damn carbs a mother fucking apple has in it. I LOVE CARBS*.) Dieters don't seem to realize that if you just diet until you lose those 15 pounds, you will gain them all back when you go back to eating McDonalds all the time. Diets aren't temporary things, so straving yourself and fucking living off crackers and celery is not a good diet. If you're eating more because you are hungry, eat smaller amounts of filling things(like carbs! Pasta   is seriously win for this.). If you're eating because you are bored or stressed, go do something else! Take that energy and go use it on something better than stuff your face, like working out. Seriously. Stop blaming food for your problems, and look at how you eat. I know I eat when I am bored, or stressed. I've been working on that. I've been doing other things. But I know that's why I'm overweight.

Seriously though. I am dying to know how much weight these people have lost. I am willing to bet they have lost very little. Like I said, I'm not dieting. But I've been changing a few habits, I've been walking a lot more, and not eating at the drop of a hat(or everytime I get bad news). Basically, right now, my money situations cuts out a lot of food options for me. I've got to save what I have. So yeah. I know I've lost weight. But its not something I'm going to fret over.

*I don't actually care that much for carbs. I love pasta, but bread and the like, I could do without

tl;dr fuck diets fuck them

Also, guys, I just got home from a midnight showing of Friday The 13th. It was great and cheesy and there were three sets of boobs(including Willa Ford's), but wasn't super scary or anything. Until I got home. At which point I realized I was going to be home all alone. And my house is hella creepy. Hella creepy. So yeah. Freaked out.

Dear Blog Thread,

Today my significant other messaged me about her fish tank breaking.  I asked her how.  She said she had to move it and it cracked and broke.  Which I responded, "so you didn't remove the water first?".  I should of worded it better but it's what came to mind.  After letting me know I failed at that response she continued to go on about how she wanted to start crying because of the mess.  So to keep her from crying I decided to give her this response, "Why cry like a baby when something bad happens, learn from your mistake and move forward".  She quickly hinted to me how i'm not getting anything this weekend.  I began to cry.

Instead of crying, learn from your mistakes...

it's individual to each person, but for the most part when people are upset or angry they're not really trying to be rational, they're just frustrated and need an outlet. just listen to them complain and be there for them. you can still have the "learn from your mistakes" conversation but do it later, not when they are emotional and don't particularly want to hear it at the moment. it's not surprising someone would get even angrier at you for bringing this up when you don't take into consideration their state of mind and how sensitive they are right at that moment.

also, don't compare your girlfriend to a baby. don't compare anyone you care about to a baby. again, depends on the person but lots of people i think would feel pretty pissed off and belittled by this, especially if they're already feeling upset and looking for support.

Also, crying does not in any way prohibit someone from learning from their mistakes.
It's not as if the two are mutually exclusive.

And I mean that in the best possible way.

I am really glad I am single.

I am regularly pretty damn excited that I am not Masterbainter's girlfriend.

Everyday, I see something that makes me happy that I am not currently dating anyone. Today it was this wonderous post, but typically its something a customer does. One guy literally treated his girlfriend like a dog, one girl told her boyfriend how to spend his money. I am so glad I am single.

not being single doesn't necessarily mean being in a shitty relationship with a shitty person?

Dear blugghr

Today we painted the walls in the girls locker room pink. They painted ours light blue. This is because the people who are supposed to do that are lazy bastards and we wouldn't bother to wait any more. The shockingly pinkness of a completely pink room is quite fun.
