Dear black thread.

The beans are spilled! I talked to the girl I made out with last week about the other girl I have a crush on (Bookstore Girltm). She said that she (the otehr girl) asked her about me, too. Not in that way, but it is a start. I mean it's really awesome, because apparently she cares about me! My friend said she's going to talk to her about it.

The bad news: Bookstore Girltm is moving to god-damn Berlin in September! ARGH.

drunkenly yours,
Dominik

Berlin is apparently awesome. Maybe you should go there too? But not like in a stalky kind of way.

Work opened up again today finally and I went in for a beer at noon to check it out figuring it would be ok since my shift starts at 10 and ten hours  was enough of a buffer zone but I got in trouble and now I feel really shitty and I'm starting to think I don't even want to go back if they're going to get like that and oh god I feel like shit and just want to quit and maybe get a job stocking shelves or something because I'm fucking sick of having a job where this is even a problem because obviously people do not trust me enough to be sensible about this shit even though I've never done anything to indicate I couldn't be trusted and I've been nothing but a model fucking employee.

You can tell when I'm upset because I love run on sentences.

I think they're just being sensitive about it because they've just opened and I'm being sensitive about it because I'm a giant wuss but I just kind of assumed the old ten hour gap policy still applied and I'm just not used to people getting annoyed at me because as much as it may surprise some people, I'm really very sensible when it comes to things like drinking at the same place I work, and drinking before work.

The thing that really pisses me off was that I ordered a Coopers, and they'd forgotten to put it on the till so I stood there for ten minutes waiting for my change while they sorted this out and if I had been a normal customer I would have gotten fed up and fucked off once they did. Considering how much they've drilled it into us that we should be making a good first impression for the hotel now that we're open again after 8 months I think I actually helped diagnose a pretty annoying problem by going in there in the first place.

Thanks! At the moment, at my most confident, I'm leaning towards the new one because she has (inadvertantly) hooked me so hard.  I get excited just to see her and I get nervous when I talk to her, and my stomach kind of rises, and she's adorable and pretty and she speaks German and welds and oh goodness. It's the most intense I've felt about anyone in a long time. But! Haste is bad.

Things turn out okay for you?

I have proposed hangouts with a girl from the internet who is pretty much the coolest person ever. Or a serial killer.
If you don't hear from me again, you'll know it was the latter.

De El, I am in a vaguely similar situation in that I have mad crushes on this girl at my work despite the fact that I am in a pretty happy and stable relationship. I am flirty as all fuck off with Work Girl who is a generally cool, attractive and funny person who actually seems to enjoy my company. Whereas my girlfriend has now started working more, has less money than ever and has all kinds of worries that make her much more stressed and tired which all makes her much less happy to see me and more tired and grumpy. Problem was that it was kind of subtle since Ingelise is not really one to complain or address issues when they come up so for the last few weeks I've thought she has just been being a jerk.

The point I'm making here is that there might not be anything particularly wrong with your current relationship and maybe you just need to identify any problems and see how or if they can be fixed as it might not be worth throwing away what you already have for a relationship with someone else that may not work out.

Dear girl thread, I have good girl news! (I don't mean news of good girls, I mean good news regarding girls.)

So this girl at work who I kind of have a bit of a crush on but mostly just want to be friends with, the one I was going to ask to come to the cinema with me and my friends, well I asked her and she didn't seem scared like I was a creepy stalker! She isn't sure if she can come or not but you can't have everything.

But I didn't actually want to write about girls, I was just following on a theme. Did I ever tell you guys about going to London? I think I had a bit of a rant about it because my friend cancelled on me, and I'm still cross :( but we're talking again because bearing grudges is childish. Having said that, I haven't seen him yet today and he's in college so he must be hiding from me somewhere. People, I need advice. How do boy brains work?

Well, I'm an ass man, myself, but that's pretty accurate nonetheless.

Dear blog thread,

Flirty Kosovar Girl decided that her classical singing career needed more attention. I guess she's pretty famous in Kosovo now. It feels pretty awesome to have hung out with somebody who is famous in Kosovo.

Yesterday the show people decided that since there's so many people who play guitar this season, they're going to have a little workshop for songwriting. I guess that is pretty cool, but the guy was like "Play me something you've composed" and I played something, just as an example, not wanting to change anything. The guy completely cut it open and fucked the bloody wound and it sounded horrible and oh my god I wanted to smack him. That song is kindof personal to me, see, and I don't like some nearly-complete stranger fucking it up.

I have had beer for lunch for two days in a row now, I think I should probably stop this shit.

Love,
Me!

To be fair since I've figured out why my girlfriend has been so out of sorts since I got back from Boston (this has been going on for like 2 months) over the last few days things have greatly improved between us  and I've since stopped flirting with Work Girl. Though I did give her a hug today but that's because her cat got run over yesterday.
The whole point is that if your eyes are wandering because you think your relationship isn't that great anymore you might need to do a bit more communicating and find out if you're not paying enough attention (which is what I was doing...or not doing depending on how you want to phrase it). Besides, it wouldn't make much sense for me to break up with a girl who very recently grabbed me by the neck, sucked on my head for about 15 seconds and ran away screaming "I'M TEN TIMES MORE INTELLIGENT!!!"

I sometimes amuse/annoy the meebly audience with tales of my forays into the unknown depths of the female world ... boy that came out wrong.

Anyway, after a string of fizzers, disappointments and hopefully meaningless rolls in the hay (more on that later), I'm not that into it anymore.
Cue a montage set to a sad guitar song. Walking through drizzling rain, seeing somebody miss the bus, a dog taking a poop on a little kitty and more sadness.

Until a girl I had met six weeks ago and had loose text messaging contact with decided to cut a few corners and added me to her ICQ where we talked. For the following six hours (midnight to 6 AM this morning, roundabouts). It feels like both she and I wanted to get as much of the conversation bits not leading to makeouts out of the way before we see each other again.
Oh, right, right now she lives 400 km south of me. And she's going to India and Nepal in April.
But she is free in the last week of March so she's coming to visit me and staying at my place for two days.

So that's awesome.

On a darker page in the story of the 2009 so far is a weird friendship-cum-non-relationship between my friend T and me. I met her right before breaking up with my now-ex (unrelated). She got out of a couple bad ones recently. We're both more into sex than relationships right now. So it happens.
I'm concerned that the feelings she had for me first might flare up again and I don't want her to get hurt.

And since it got flushed in the photo thread, here is pictorial evidence that I am now a doctor:

Jesus, sometimes I wonder what goes on in my head. A friend just called, who I haven't really seen in forever, and she's super nice. She asked if I wanted a book that she had borrowed back, and I said sure, we could meet up on Monday, and then she asked if I maybe wanted to join her for dinner today. And my immediate response: "Oh, that would've been so nice, but I just started my own dinner!" ....which I hadn't. I mean, I'd planned it, and taken out all the stuff, but I hadn't started, and having dinner with someone would be totally nice. I am a fucking expert at making up silly excuses to avoid being social, even when I want to, and without even thinking about it, it just happens, and then I realize a minute later what I just did.

Why, oh, why? It's so fucking dumb.

Dearest Blog Thread,

In half an hour I will get on a bus that will take me to another bus, and that bus will take me on the most excellent road trip adventure thing! (this one) So I will be not as present as normal for the next week or so. My laptop is coming along on this journey but I have no idea if we will have wireless access ever, so I cannot make guarantees.

By the way, if you live near Rochester, MN, Chicago, IL, Fishers, IN, Asheville, NC, Chattanooga, TN, or Memphis, TN, give me a shout/facebook me/call me if you have my number. We can HANG OUT for maybe a couple hours.

Bye kids!

Dear Blog Thread,

For the past couple of weeks I have basically been sitting around and moping for lack of a job and lack of anything to do.  I'm homeschooled (and have all the credits required to get into college so I'm basically graduated), but the majority of my friends are Sophomores or Juniors who are still inaccessible for about three hours of the day that would be mad hangout times in summer or some other holiday, so I've mostly been sort of attached to the computer for hours out of the day.  I'm getting pretty tired of it pretty fast, and it's affecting my relationship with my girlfriend negatively, and I just need something to do but I just can't for the life of me think of anything to do.  I live on the outskirts of Birmingham, Alabama, which aren't really noted for their beauty or ambiance, so I can't really get into just walking around like I used to when I was living in the heart of the city.  Suggestions?

Man every time you guys start talking about flirty semi-not-really-kinda cheating on your girlfriends it makes me so sad:(

Glad I'm not the only one.
I think that the important thing with relationships isn't that you don't want to fuck other people, it's that you don't fuck other people. Expecting the former is unrealistic and thus sort of (inadvertently) controlling. I think boys and girls who never cheat should get a gold star for self-control.

But hey, that's me.

Girl thread,

A douchebag at my workplace who never pulled his weight got fired, so I'm probably taking his hours and getting bumped up to 20 a week, which will be nice for the Chicagotimes.

Playing guitar's made me more socially awkward and clearly less social.

I think that the important thing with relationships isn't that you don't want to fuck other people, it's that you don't fuck other people. Expecting the former is unrealistic and thus sort of (inadvertently) controlling. I think boys and girls who never cheat should get a gold star for self-control.

It's not so much the idea that you might have a fantasy about having sex with someone else.  It's the flirting and stuff.  I assume Jon thinks about sleeping with someone else (i don't know who, and i don't much care), but if he was actually flirting with someone, that'd bug the hell out of me (unless he was getting free drinks at a bar or something).  Not cheating is not hard if you care for the person you're with.

To clarify, I'm not saying it's wrong to be attracted to someone else, but acting at all on that is not cool in my book.

If my SO told me I had to not flirt with anyone I would basically have a choice between dumping them and not talking to other human beings.

What makes me giggle is that if you think that your signficant other does not flirt with other people you are probably a little naiive and if you say that you don't flirt with other people then you are probably lyng.

I don't mind flirting with other people because it's just kind of something that I do anyway. The reason flirting with Work Girl was bothering me (and why I've since stopped) was because I actually found myself actively thinking about her when she wasn't around which is not something I usually do (I usually think about my girlfriend and ways with which to confuse, amuse and/or irritate her).

Pen, you seem to assume that flirting is sexual, but it doesn't have to be. I flirt with dozens of girls, most of them have boyfriends and all of them know it's purely innocent fun.

I had a piece of fish for my dinner last night. There were quite a few fishbones in it. After a while, I got tired of picking them out. So when I then saw another fishbone, I thought I'd just swallow it. At the time, it seemed small enough for that but in retrospective it probably wasn't. The fishbone got stuck in my tonsil and kept tickling my gag reflex. I felt a little silly, just sitting there and wretching, so I went to the boys downstairs for help. They laughed about me but couldn't pull it out. So I went to see my GP today, whose practice was open this Saturday, and thankfully, he removed the fishbone from my tonsil. He told me that in thirty years as a doctor, he had never seen anything like that. At least I gave him a story to tell at the pub.

So does this count as a near-death experience? If it does, I'm none the wiser for it.

Then I suppose we have different definitions of flirting.  I can accept that.

Dear Blog Thread

I decided to check when the check for my tax return would come in yesterday.  After checking my bank account I then went to the IRS and went through the process of finding when it should have been sent.  It told me it was sent on March 3rd, yet it isn't there.  I called up the IRS and told them this and besides the woman on the other siding being incredibly lippy she was of no help aside from telling me to take it up with my bank since they sent it.  I went to the bank today and they told me they never received anything.  As it turns out they changed the system from last year, which is why I got my state check in the mail instead of direct deposit, and they haven't even gotten a notice that they took it back.  So now I have to wait till Monday to call the IRS to trace it.

Oh, and I guess I have a cracked tooth.
