They seem nice enough, and they are some of the time, but they (especially my mom) have a tendency to freak out at fucking stupid and insignificant things, and treat us like we are 10 instead of 18-22. I guess the latter is pretty common, but both are so frustrating.

And no, no «Star Trek», apparently. Maybe after August 7th, but up until then, the "Coming soon"-page looks pretty filled up.. It makes no sense, really.

I found out today that people write fanfiction with characters from the Bible. Is this common knowledge? I was pretty surprised, although I guess I shouldn't have been. It is the Internet, after all.

congrats

Thanks guys :D It was a pretty amazing night. I has a pictures on Facebook.

Dear blag,

I went out with my lady yesterday. Fun. She had to leave, though, so I went to the biker bar looking for a friend of mine. My friend wasn't there, so I chilled with the bartenders/waiters, who are good buddies of mine. While I'm mid-sentence with one of them, everything goes dark 'cause some girl put her hands over my eyes and was all like "GUESS WHO LOLOL" at me. I'm like "I don't give a shit so long as you are cute." I turn around and I'm just like "...oh."

Turns out, the one person in Albania that I absolutely cannot stand to be near is back in town. She's this spoiled suburban white girl from Nobody Gives A Fuck, America and she thinks everybody loves her. She thinks she is my friend just because we met at a dinner party. She giggled like a retard the whole time, and now she comes up to me like we've known each other forever, and she starts taking pictures with me, and I'm sitting there like "Whoa wtf do not do that." It's one thing if you're a fan and I am kindof obligated to be nice to you. It's quite another if you're just going around acting like a fucktard, trying to keep all attention on you at all times.

Love,
Me

This is seriously my theory about the origins of a lot of the alternate gospels and apocrypha during the early centuries of Chistianity.

It's not a bad theory for some of the canonical Gospels and parts of the New Testament in general.

I prefer New Testament/Twilight. Jesus was only resurected because Jasper bit him and turned him into a vampire.

And then they had hot vampire on vampire-messiah sex.

Nope, Jesus. I'm referring to a cross between The Messiah and a vampire, not the messiah of vampires.

One of the taglines to the fanfics I found was "What if Jesus drove a hippie bus in 1967?", so various crossovers might not be too far off? I'm not planning on looking for any, though.

I spent about 5 minutes looking for Jesus/Twilight crossovers and couldn't find anything. I'm not really comitted enough to this to search any longer.

You're probably right. Although, I did find crossovers with Harry Potter, She's the Man (as in the Amanda Bynes movies), X-files, Death Note, Golden Girls (what the fuck?), and many, many more.

I was filling out a survey earlier (I'm on MySurvey.eu so ever so often I have to answer strings of odd questions in exchange for Nectar points) and it asked me what best described my occupation. I almost put "student" but then I realised that in two days I will no longer be a student, so I went for "part time employed".

Guys, in two days I'll no longer be a student. Well, pending August and results I guess, it's fairly certain I'll carry on being a student in the autumn but for now, education is finished with. This will be the longest holiday I've ever had, with the most independence (my mum and her partner are going away for more than two weeks next Wednesday) and the most work. Then I'll be leaving home.

I don't think I'd really appreciated how close all of this is, but after spending my whole life looking forwards to going to university, to moving out and to being self-sufficient, it's actually happening. Sure, I'll get student loans (if they ever sort themselves out) but beyond those I'll be paying rent out of the money I earn, and the money I've saved in the last year. I'll be buying my own food, not just snacks but all of it, and all the little things like tissues and toothpaste and plasters. I'll have to remember to wash my clothes and change my bedding and clean my room (I do do those things already, but normally I'm prompted). I'll have to pay bills and get a credit card and fill out tax forms and god almighty get a pension. Insurance. There are so many things I have no idea how to do, things I hadn't even realised I had to do (council tax? What is that?).

In other news, my best friend's grandad died yesterday. He rang me this morning and woke me up to talk about how our exams went yesterday, but I think really he just needed to talk about his grandad. We'd known for a while that he wasn't well but I hadn't realised how ill he was, and it was a shock. We never met but my friend is devastated. In a lot of ways it was a good time, because my friend's dad (the grandad's son) had just visited from Canada and the decision had been made that the grandad had to go into a home, which he would have hated. Also my friend is going to Canada for the summer so he wouldn't have been around to visit and look after him, so things would have been worse.

I've always been told I was quite mature, but I know I couldn't handle this situation anything like as maturely as my friend is doing. He is more adult than most adults, he's been the primary carer for his grandad for a while now, he handles the finances and has even dealt with social services and the courts when there were disputes over home help. And now he is sorting out a funeral, with the help of his uncle, all in the middle of his exams (which he has been working for consistently and conscientiously for several months). I'm so proud to be his friend, I'm going to miss him like hell next year :(

I know I just posted in here but reading the relationship thread has given me an idea and I am seriously thinking about going to Nepal to teach english next summer. If I go to Birmingham university they offer bursaries for that kind of thing, and I'd be able to work during term time anyway so I'd be able to save up. I love teaching, I've always wanted to do volunteer work and I would love to visit Nepal. It isn't cheap ($400 for a week, not including travel and immunisation costs) but it would be worth it and bursary support would help too.

I just wanted to share this idea; I tried to go into Meebo but our internet is slower than a drugged sloth (it's at 864k at the moment, whatever that means).

i found a second job, bloggy! i am working at an electronics store in the computer department as a "product expert", which i think is just another way of saying i work in retail and sell things but i'm still pretty excited to start because it's in toronto and not markham and i get a wonderful discount on everything in the store and i work with a lot of geeky guys (i know it sounds sorta bad, but i've always had a much easier time being friends with and working with dudes rather than ladies and my past jobs in the hospitality and service industries have never let me do that on account they've been pretty gender segregated) and i really like the fact that my job title has the word "expert" in it even if it's most likely for show cos it makes me sound much more competent and knowledgeable than i actually am.
i've also started a volunteer position at a homeless shelter in etobicoke as an admin assistant so things are probably going to get pretty crazy and hectic over the next few weeks but it's all good, i am terrifically excited to finally be busy and have lots of things to do. in a month or so if everything goes according to plan my life will be exhausting and i'll be tired and pissed off a lot but as long as i still get a paycheck now and then i don't think i'll complain too bad. i am glad to have less things to worry about now.

Tonight was my first night of my first ever D&D campaign. I will be buying dice and a mini sometime this weekend. My nerd point just went way up.

But on the plus side, next week I will begin swimming in the evenings so I can get some exercise and this time I will have a friend with me. Exciting! I'm just super glad that I can swim at my former uni for less than I could with a gym membership. Considering I don't do anything you would do in a gym.

My brother's graduating from high school tomorrow.  Tonight he got the first haircut he's had since 8th grade.  He altered his graduation cap as such:

(In case it's not clear from the crappy picture, he's affixed the hair he cut off to the inside of the cap so it looks like he's still got all his hair as long as he's wearing it.)

I'm going to be watching the people around him very carefully when he takes it off.  I expect to see at least a few really hilariously extreme reactions.

Last year all I really asked for from my dad was a roast dinner so that my whole family actually had a meal in the one place for my birthday, as he doesn't go to restaurants. He got very drunk and fell down our back steps and cracked his head against the concrete and possible got concussion. Now, if it was just me and Ro and Mum there, I would be able to deal with it, because it's not the first time he's done that. But Jimmy (as in Jimmy the Squid) and Est had travelled up here and saw this, as well as the kitchen flooding as well. It was a pretty awful way to spend my 21st birthday evening, to be honest.

This year I asked for a roast dinner again, seeing if 22 is better than 21. By the way Dad is today, the day before my birthday, it looks like it's going to be fucked up again. Am I that awful a person that when it comes to an occasion that reminds everyone about my birth it makes my father want to get catatonically drunk? I want to go up to him today and ask him to not fuck it up tomorrow, but I'm not going to and it's going to suck, just like the past few birthdays have. No wonder I never want people to do anything for my birthday any more.

Absolutely not. Sometimes parents are just selfish assholes who think mainly of themselves, even to the detriment of their children. I know it's hard to do, but if you realize this and don't take his behavior personally, you will be much happier in the long run. You just put up with it until you have the money to be self-sufficient and move out.

Today is payday, and of course, I'm not getting paid as much as I expected (my fault, I made a mistake figuring it out). So, now I can't buy a dresser or any other furniture for my bedroom, and it's looking like my clothes will have to stay in my laundry basket/floor until fall semester starts.

Bible fanfic

I just found a new hobby. Too long since I've written anything, so writing the story of Kain that's jealous of Able because God prefers the way Able has leveled his Pokemon will be a good start.

Blaggy,

I've been really exhausted and sick lately, but that's okay. I'm also starving for food, but that's okay, too. Our tenants have moved out with no notice, and this means I can FINALLY PLAY MY MUSIC AT FULL BLAST ONCE MORE.

Technoooooooo

Also, my father's art show is today, and since I handle the art and sales, I get a decent amount of cash from being there. I usually take half, but since he could possibly make upwards of $2-3000, I might only take a third or quarter. We'll see how it goes.

I'm a big advocate of writing what's FUN to you, especially if the alternative is not writing because nothing "important" enough is coming to mind. Even though my own aspirations are professional, I don't look down on folks who like to write fanfiction. I may point and laugh at the crazy shit as much as anybody, but I still respect the effort behind it.

Hey thread,

I'm watching the master from the studio session Tuesday night and goddamn, my crew kicks all kinds of ass. This is WAY beyond what I ever expected getting into this project. It's so fucking beautiful. I also can't say enough good things about the band. A fairly mellow set of country/folk/rock blend, so "rock" isn't quite the right term, but it was such a tight and soulful performance. All On Seven.

I just want to share it with the whole world RIGHT NOW, but there's still a lot of work to put in until it's done and aired. I stand behind what I said, though, about putting this up against any music show anywhere.  8-)

Is there any possibility of you posting your show online?

Dear blag,

I was called by the producer of Akademi to a surprise meeting with the Minister of Education this morning. All the finalists and everybody who won any of the peripheral awards (read: all the finalists and me) were there. I kindof wanted to wash my hands after shaking his hand (corrupt motherfuckers always give off a filthy vibe to me). It was all filmed and everything and I don't know why but the producer decided to single me out and talk about me a couple of times and it kinda bothered me.

Also tomorrow I record a playback track of me singing "Mr. Brightside". Found an excellent backing track on the inter-blags that we're gonna use, and on Sunday, the other finalists and I lip-sync to whatever songs we chose (by 'chose' I mean Zana told us that we had to sing something famous with a strong rhythm). Some Italian producer guy is gonna be there, apparently. Dooooon't give a fuck.

Love,
Me!
