And guys, Tommy makes a good point. Let's keep logistical arrangements to PMs or Facebook private messages. Although you have to be a member of this forum to read the threads, there is not police check before you sign up and we don't know who's reading this.

Well, the cool thing about the group page is that if you're not in it, you can't see the wall, topics, or photos. Just the top part, pretty much. So we can discuss it there and not worry about strangers seeing what we're up to. Also I can switch it to "secret" if need be, which means no one but the members can see it at all. Right now, members are by invite only or they have to request to be added, which goes to me.

Ok folks, it's only 7 weeks off and we have the housing situation sorted, we just need everyone to make their final decisions on if they can come soon.

So if you could update your status and we'll try to keep the list up to date so we can determine how much everyone needs to have to pay their part and determine how the hell we're gonna cram this many folks in.

Definitely going! Will be buying bus tickets in the near future. (Train schedule is just not working out for me.)

Also, look at the group page on facebook and post in the topic about the house whether or not you're staying there to make things easier for Edith.

Nah, it's a big house. There are three queen beds and one king, plus a few couches, and ample floor space. It's not going to be that crowded, really.

However, it is for good reason: I am trying to finance a 10-12 day tour doing spoken word poetry across as much of the country as I can visit. So if anyone wants to help me book a gig, at a slam or a coffee shop, or whatever...that would be awesome!

Book one in Chicago!

Anyone from the UK (is that just me and May?) should check out this site before getting money changed, it gives a better conversion rate than the post office and you can arrange both money (although you'll have to pay delivery on orders below £500) and a chip and pin, preloaded Mastercard card which is obviously easier and safer than money/travellers cheques.

Be careful when you register though; you have to set your address as the one the card you're planning on buying dollars with is registered at because there is no change address option and that field is already filled in when you try to pay by card. I made that mistake thinking I'd get it delivered to my flat while my cards are registered at my parent's home so I'm going to have to re-register.

It is like a month!

Oops I already got my money! I need to get some travel insurance though, should I go for a really cheap one with high excesses or pay the full £70 for the Post Office insurance which insures you to the hilt for everything including alien attack?

Matt, that gig was awesome. The people at the cafe basically had no clue what was going on, there was no sound system at all, and we had no actual place to read. And for some reason that made it fucking AWESOME!

DC would be cool, and I know they have a decent slam venue there. Depending on if we end up doing a road gig in the beginning of August of the middle, we could maybe plan on doing a couple days in Chicago - catch a gig at the Green Mill maybe, and do a house show for you guys!

So I just found out when school starts and the vacation that my dad was planning for us would be for the two weeks before that and there is no overlap between that and Chicagocon so I have a very good feeling that I will be able to go! Alright kids. Here is the deal. Recently I have acquired a rubber ducky that is GREEM (see here). It has been decided by the current meebo community (i.e. Stephen and me) that he will attending Chicagocon as our mascot. We will take him everywhere and get his adorable greem face into as many pictures as possible. But there is one small problem.

Mr. Ducky needs a NAME. So please, make your suggestions. We will choose the name that suits him (or her, I suppose) best, and that shall be the name.
