Project Notasulga
« on: 24 Feb 2009, 22:09 »

A tiny town in Alabama.

A grave injustice.

Will you take action?

Saved in case it gets edited out -

Resident Cat

The Notasulga post office's unofficial resident cat, Sammy, has been banned from the building after an angry customer called in a complaint. The complaint was that Sammy doesn't pay taxes and should not be allowed on federal grounds. An outraged group of Notasulgans has taken swift and decisive action: they bought Sammy the Cat his very own P.O. Box. If you want to send Sammy a letter to show your support, you can write to: Sammy the Cat, P.O. Box 173, Notasulga, Alabama, 36866

I would be a little understanding if they were concerned about allergies, or something remotely valid.  I might write a letter, mainly because the idea of writing a letter to a cat with his own P.O. box amuses me.  I need to find a non-toxic ink pad so my cat can show his support by cosigning.

Fuck Santa Claus, if I have anything to do with it the children of tomorrow will be sending their Christmas letters to Sammy the Cat.

If you've been good he brings you your presents.

If you've been bad he brings you a dead mouse.

Regardless of whether you've been good or bad, sometimes he pisses on your clothes just to remind you of your place.

That's cause your cat ain't Sammy, man. That's like complaining that Santa Claus doesn't like you because the only thing you get from that strange-smelling guy with the big white beard who's always hanging around the supermarket is funny looks and drunkenly slurred rants against women.

It's a variety of mint, it's a greener green with much smaller and slightly furrier leaves. I'd imagine you could get something from pet stores but you can just go to a nursery or garden store and pick a little while no-one's watching if that's all you want it for.

Catnip is a plant. You can buy seeds in a packet just like any other plant or flower at a greenhouse or other such facility. I bought some for my cats and planted it in my backyard and much to my surprise it flourished in the dry, hot Colorado weather. I had a huge bush of it for the longest time. It was useful because whenever my cats got out they were drawn to it like a magnet, and they'd sit there, cracked out, until someone came and picked them up.

I assumed this went without saying but uh, I dunno maybe it'd be cool to surprise a random small little town with a population of ~900 with cute things and goodwill from around the world?

They should fill out tax forms for the cat. Income: $0. Income tax $0.

Then the cat would have paid it's taxes.

My mum bought a cat nip plant and kept it in a pot for a while so it could grow before she planted it in the garden. She went to check up on it after she'd left it outside for a few days and our fat cat had eaten the whole thing.

Every time I read the title of this thread I auto-correct it to "Project Nostalgia". In my mind we are talking about a cat who was alive fifteen years ago in a pretty tourist town. The cat is now dead; the town abandoned.

But we remember the better times.

My major complaint with the town I'm living in is there's nowhere to get a good poutine around here. The two gyro places nearby do passable poutine but there is no good poutine.
