For me it was N'sync.

  • Oh thanks. They're not mine.

Haha, I was into all those boy bands when I was like, eight.  I am still ashamed.  Also: Evanescence.

A little word of advice, man:

Slow down a bit on thread-making.  Try posting in other people's threads, too.

Psh, I never listened to bad music.

The first album I ever bought was The Gorillaz. This is something I'm pretty proud of my younger self for.

The second album I bought was Limp Bizkit. I am less proud of this.

yeah i had a Limp Bizkit thing going on as well. i wouldnt say im embarassed, but that sort of behaviour is totally unjustifiable.

Wait, it's okay to like Gorillaz? Well, that's a load off my chest. :p

I don't like The Gorillaz album. Dunno why. Love Demon Days, though.

isn't this kinda like a guilty pleasures thread? we already have one of those:
http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,22538.0.html

as for bands that i used to be into but don't really listen to anymore...afi. i'm not ashamed of this, because it was kind of like a gateway into hardcore and emo and other internet-approved goodness.

Yeah, somewhat.  But I'm pretty sure no one ever liked the bands in the Horrible Bands thread

Do we really need all these pretty similar but oh so slightly different threads though? (i mean maybe we do I don't know)

And so I am just not bashing a thread:
Back in the day, I would spin bands such as Linkin Park, Backstreet Boys, and the radio station DC101. I dare you to go to their website. Dare

Yeah my first CDs were *NSYNC and Baha Men.
They've since been burned. And I like early Nickelback (the first 3 albums, nothing after Silver Side Up).

You are a hippie white guy with a huge afro. You have musical taste when it suits you but generally decide to ignore it and end up listening to mostly jarring noise.

I usually defend all the bands I listen/used to listen to, but for some reason I'm really embarassed that I used to like The Get-Up Kids. I was really into them for like two months and then one day I just deleted all their songs off of my PC and traded in the CDs at FYE.

I haven't looked back since.

The Who

You're wrong.

I figured the thread was more about albums that you bought instead of bands you used to listen to. Granted they're much the same, but does it really matter that much? Just don't post in them if you don't think they're worth posting in. If other people post in them, there obviously not completely unwanted.

The only Get-Up Kids song I've heard is their cover of the Cure's "Close to Me".  For some reason, I really like it.

My understanding of this thread was that they are supposed to be bands we no longer like AND are ashamed that we ever liked.

Right?

Oh god. My taste in music in grade school was god-awful. Basically any mid 90's to early 2000's pop-punk and emo band. I didn't dress the part fortunately, but i also thought Linkin Park and 3 Doors Down were the best bands ever.
The first CD i ever bought with my own money was the Good Burger soundtrack. That I'm proud of.

This thread was purely to see that I wasn't the only dork who liked N'snyc or some other pop-boyband crap back in grade school.
This wasn't really meant to be a copy, at least not intentionally.
But come on, I love watching people own up to liking bands that are really a bunch of trash compared to music I've found on here.
Bands like:
Baha Men
Backstreet Boys
N'sync
Limp Bizquit
etc...

Before that and after that, my music taste was and is great.

Right?

Is there a reason you're ashamed of The Who?

It just seems like one of those things that never happen

    • Troubador! bandcamp page

I'd give my left arm to be their drummer, man.

My first-ever album purchases were Smashmouth's AstroLounge and the Offspring's Americana. I don't much listen to that Offspring album anymore, but I am more than happy to play AstroLounge as long as I skip "AllStar".

I used to love the fuck out of that song.

I used to like Smash Mouth. Still do, actually. But Astro Lounge is the last album of theirs I'll listen to, and even then...sparingly.

I used to listen to Matchbox 20 and pretty much whatever came on the radio.

  • Scare a moose, will you do the fandango?
    • Me.

Is baaaaad joke.

Anyway ... I think that every single album I eer bought says something about what I thought at the time. Thus, there is some mild bemusement at some choices but no great big heaps of shame. It all lead to the albums I love today.

the Offspring's Americana

Ha! That was my first album, too! Now I only listen, if at all, to their first Album sometimes, which I still like very much.
