Guys, is there any way i can keep track of all this stuff without paying through the nose for it? Like possible prospects call-ups or hot streak players or the like?

I've tried the ESPN Minors Updates and Rotowire but they want monthly charges.

Yeah, those stats are ridiculous. I have led the league in Batter's K's for the majority yet my players still can't pick up Runs or get on base.

he's referring to a post I was about to modify and ended up deleting because I'm dumb.

Was just commenting on how some of the quirkier things in the season stats make me laugh. For example, I'm 3rd in Quality Starts and third to last in Wins. No real complaints though because my team has been astoundingly mediocre so a .500 record is fitting.

Alex, I don't like the way you're trimming my lead at the moment.  You cut that out right now young man.

Also I read through this thread again because I was bored, and earlier conversations reminded me of some crazy videos I found recently.

That dude got drafted last year and was all sorts of big news then. I really don't see him making the majors though, and if he does he would prolly have to stick righty. I think he just spreads himself too thin, as evidenced by his horrible velocity from the left side.

Why hello, Andre Ethier.

So, what's the appropriate emotional response for being able to finally slide Manny Ramirez back into one's struggling outfield lineup? Elation? Sheepishness? Guilt that he played so well to begin with early in the season? Bitterness that he got himself suspended for 50 games? Help me out here.

It's not that he even MISSED 50 games, the Dodgers missed him for 50. He played about a weeks worth of games in the Minors to tune up, which is total bullshit, in my book.

I'm cautiously optimistic. My batters were slumping really hard for a very long time, but they really came on towards the end of last week. Hell, even Jimmy Rollins actually hit a few balls.

Just like to give a big hand to Johnny Cueto. Giving up 9 Runs and only lasting 0.2 innings as a starting pitcher is pretty amazing really.

EDIT: I still keep getting ERA mixed up with ER. It is 121.5 ERA if anyone is curious.

I know this is the fantasy baseball and not fantasy football thread, but I just need to share this anyway because I'm pretty certain I'm going to win my new league.

For one thing, I got Adrian Peterson. That's hardly a guarantee on its own until you realize I got him with the 5th pick, which is mildly amazing. And I'm from Minnesota so I must admit to having a borderline unhealthy fascination with the guy, so that's a plus. Unfortunately, he's an injury risk so I wanted to grab his back up Chester Taylor with a late round pick but a great opportunity arose and so I ended up ceding him to an autodrafter. So, I spent the last day or so trying to figure out which appealing-on-the-surface-but-secretly-crappy late pick guys I could use to snag Taylor, only to log on today to find that the guy who autopicked him had already dropped him.

There is a reason I switched my name to the Natinals. Because my team is just as hopeless and terrible (and even MORE injured) than the Washington Formerexpos.

This week thus far

Justin Masterson: 1.2 IP, 7 ER, 37.8 ERA
Rest of Team: 59 IP, 15 ER, 2.28 ERA

In conclusion, what the fuck Justin Masterson?

Oh snap, I pulled out the win against Bryan's Cheap-o Victory Squad. I have not seen a closer margin of victory yet. I literally won by .1 innings pitcher. If Randy Wells recorded one less out against the Cardinals last night, I'd have tied.

So, yeah. It seems that by picking up Tommy Hanson, Brad Bergesen and Randy Wells, I've managed to develop an overabundance of starting pitching. Meanwhile, injuries to Torii Hunter and Mike Lowell have depleted my offense a little bit.

That means I'm open for trades. Anybody in need of some starting pitching, I'm looking for offense. I'm looking for position players with either power or speed (My home runs and stolen bases could use a bit of help), preferably out of the short stop or catcher position, or a reliever or two with some good saves/holds numbers. So as to save you guys the trouble of looking now, here's the starters I have that I'm open to trading:

Erik Bedard
Matt Garza
Joba Chamberlain
Clay Buccholz (I'll warn those not in the know, he's making his first MLB start of the season Friday and likely being sent right down to AAA afterwards, but I expect him to be doing big things in September as a call up)
Brad Bergesen
Randy Wells
Tommy Hanson

(Basically, Santana is the only starter I have I'm considering full on off limits)

I've lucked out because Shane's team is so unbalanced in favor of batting that I was actually a bit worried about facing him; I've really only managed to hover just under .500 by having a thoroughly mediocre squad in all phases of the game, so playing a full week and watching my batters get annihilated would have been nerve wracking. But a week in which all of my starters still get at least one start out while his batters are sidelined most of the week works in my favor quite nicely; it's not impossible that I can actually steal or at least tie a category or two this way. I'm a bit worried about Scott Baker playing in Rangers Ballpark though.

Also thank baseball god for my pitching staff pulling it out at the last minute. I really didn't want to lose to the fantasy baseball equivalent of the Mets.
