My only regret is losing to a team with half its roster on the DL.

So I've bounced back quite nicely this week:

Also, Alex, can you kick Chad's ass for me?

He's not even on my roster, but man, did I mention I love Nick Swisher?

Also Jayson Werth is slowly becoming the man, I really wish I'd heard of him before.  Every year I play fantasy sports this happens, I learn about new players whom I really should've heard of beforehand.

So this week my players have finally decided to come together and try to win for once. Sadly, a certain Mr Pavano didn't get the memo and has tried to ruin my pitching stats and a certain Seattle outfielder decided to once again run into a wall and injure himself.

Come on Sr. Gutierrez, don't you know that scoreboards are not made of foam?

Well congrats on him kicking major ass today. 18th perfect game in modern MLB history; 1st Sox player to do so since 1922. (He did, though, have a no-hitter in 2007. One walk in the 8th or 9th inning. I think he walked Frank Thomas Sammy Sosa, actually.)

I love that I actually got my win. I went into Sunday winning something like 13-1-0 or 10-3-1 or whatever (I was effectively in control), then comes Clay Buchholz. Buchholz proceeds to post a line of four innings pitched, nine hits, four walks, seven earned runs and only three strikeouts. His terrible performance lost me quality starts, strikeouts, ERA and WHIP all in one fell swoop and almost lost me the week. A Martin Prado RBI got me the win by tying RBI.

Even disregarding the fact one of Rob's pitchers almost threw a no-hitter on Sunday and the other one went eight innings of shutout ball, I still would've tied QS and easily wrapped K, ERA and WHIP if Buchholz had thrown a half decent game.

Oh man, this is shaping up to be a pretty tight run at the playoffs.  I'm 3.5 games back at the moment, and tied for 8th place.  Should be an interesting few weeks down the homestretch.

Shane,

I have recently acquired Andy Laroche. You are clearly not making the playoffs and the most joy you will likely get from this game is by having the complete set of Laroche brothers by season's end. I am willing to trade you Andy Laroche for Prince Fielder straight up. Let me know how you feel about it.

It's nice to have both Manny and Rollins putting up some power numbers. It really sucked having one of the major strengths of my team pretty much nuked for a solid half season.

K-Rod just randomly murdered my ERA and WHIP with an epic blown save. Luckily, he did it by giving up a grand slam to another one of my players. So it kinda evens out, since my lead in batting is even more tenuous than my lead in pitching. It's making me nervous anyway though, since I wouldn't put it past Greinke to put up a monster of a bounce back outing and I'm guaranteed to lose Innings Played regardless.

To be fair, your team really only sucked in terms of ERA/WHIP and Ryan Zimmerman played out of his mind. He's easily one of the streakiest hitters in baseball, and that was really the only thing that gave me pause on whether to draft him or not this year. When he's on, he's on.

Joe Mauer's gonna win AL MVP, right? I know people have a borderline fascist devotion to voting only for guys on teams that are a lock to make the playoffs and all, but what the hell else does the guy have to do to win an individual award? I refuse to believe I'm being a homer considering he's a catcher with a frankly ridiculous stat line on a team that is essentially a 2 man show on offense.

I just get worried because right now the media seems to be busily fellating Texeira. As a small market you get trained to expect this sorta thing.

All the media coverage he's getting has instilled a terrible fear that Teixeira and his abysmal road splits might have a shot at the MVP. Take him out of that joke of a park and Tex is hitting a very pedestrian .258/.366/.483 and he can't hit righties worth a shit either (His batting against righties is almost as bad as his batting outside of Yankee Stadium). Tex is MAYBE the third best first baseman in the AL right now, well behind Morneau and Youkilis.

If the writers have to do their large market bullshit, Youkilis would deserve it way more than Teixeira. His splits are great both road and home and against righties and lefties and he's playing gold glove defense at two different positions. He'd honestly be a no brainer for MVP if not for the fact Mauer's having an absolutely beastly season. If it goes to anyone but Mauer, it'll be a great injustice, but if it went to Teixeira, that would be an absolute travesty. Tex isn't even the MVP of his team this season, Jeter's got that hands down.

Shane is nothing to brag about. Everyone but me can beat the shit out of Shane.

Seriously, why the fuck can I not beat Shane? His team is terribad!

Also, I am on the cusp of the playoffs and not holding out much hope. My last two matchups? Against the top two teams in the league. I have to win both and hope that either Chad loses one more time or Alex loses both his remaining matchups.

Pft. You don't complain. My pitching is an absolute fucking mess. My top two starters from the draft (Bedard and Santana) are both finishing the season on the DL and the Joba Rules have effectively limited my third starter to a glorified long relief man who happens to start games. My best starter plays for the fucking Rangers.

ETA: Also, I've just been reduced to dropping Joba for Ross fucking Ohlendorf.

Yeah, things like that is why I added the wildly inconsistent Bronson Arroyo and the broken husk of Scott Kazmir to my bench when a couple of my batters hit the DL this last week. I don't trust either of them in any way whatsoever, but frankly, the free agent pool is fucking dire right now.

That, and there's no way in hell I'm starting a slumping Ricky Romero at Texas.
