Pizza Girl -- the eerie truth
« on: 29 Mar 2009, 20:48 »

In #1360, Marten says Dora has gone into a fugue state.

Fugue states, says Wikipedia, include loss of memory and even changes to identity.

They're a possibility in the QC universe. In #1029, Dave admits to the possibility that he's a serial killer and simply doesn't know it. Fugue states are part of QC "reality" and are therefore a legitimate possible explanation for QC phenomena.

Someone with another identity, and amnesia about it, would be caught short by questions about her activities.

In #813, Penelope hems and haws about her off-work life. Every sentence begins with "um" or "uh", unusual for a normally articulate person. She even says "I guess" at one point.

We've never seen Penelope out shopping, or eating, or doing any of the leisure activities Faye and Marten do all the time.

Penelope is uncertain what to say about her time off work because she doesn't know what she does when she's not at Coffee of Doom or at the gym. We've never seen her and Pizza Girl together because she is Pizza Girl: she denies it because she truly does not know that she's Pizza Girl.

This explanation is extremely satisfying for me. I will take it as canon until Jeph directly contradicts it.

nonsense

Penelope sits at home and plays WoW all day

(Personally I prefer to think that she's a MUDder, but I doubt almost anyone even knows what that is )

Why - you think we're ignorant or something?

Except she's more of a book nerd, not a computer nerd. I'm guessing she hasn't even heard of a MUD.

I'm gonna guess that Wil is the only character that has.

Hmm.

And as tolkenian cutlery would've worked for her in high school... maybe she did have a shell account in college that she used regularly or something. :P

I've actually never met a single person IRL who knows what a MUD is...I guess i forgot what the community is for this forum

My RL friends are the ones who told me what a MUD was.

That is a true story.

Yes.  Both silly AND ignorant, now that you've asked.

Next question.

On 1 hand I'm impressed, on the other hand I've heard of worse RL issues due to MUDding

haha

what MUD?

No idea, I've never used a MUD.  My brother was really obsessed back then and threw a fit when my parents kicked him off one night.  Got the keyboard tray stuck.  My dad and I were fixing it and the tray was very enthusiastic about getting unjammed.  Ended up in my forehead.

MUDing was actually my first experience with the Internet. Yes, even e-mail came second. Priorities, I has them.

Really, it seems to me that Sara is a better candidate for Pizza-Girl. I think you could apply much of that Penelope scenario to Sara, adding that then one day, PG assumed total control.

So I guess instead of Sara being consumed be an allosaur, she was eaten alive by Pizza Girl.

He already did, in a way.  Check the newspost for strip 698: "this strip in particular is poking fun at the overzealous folks on my board who go 'OMG IT'S PIZZA GIRL' every time I draw a blonde anywhere in the comic."
