Sven isn't friends with Harriet. She's his lawyer … likes his money, [not him].
Sorry, but this edit is too loaded with distilled truth not to post.

Oh, and happy March 33rd, all.

So, what do you think is up for tonight?
Hannelore visits the zoo?
Or is Jeph just teasing?

I would think that, for March 34th, Jeph would do something pretty special.

To believe that this is a 'secret 4chan meme' is pretty naive. Half the internet has heard of this.

I know it's far from secret, (rules one and two are stupid) but not a lot of people use it. Either way, I liked the subtle way it was put into the comic.

Not a lot of people use it? Dude... dunno where you live, but in my small hicktown university people say that ALL the time, even people who don't know what a Twitter is and if it flies around or not. Not trying to be snarky! Just saying!

Also I would have liked to see a more dramatic cliffhanger for the weekend today. :( And I predict whomever Angus's friend is, he's a hottie with a body and Faye will be possibly enthralled. And he will be a regular. Or he'll be a creepy old dude, one-off character. Covering all my bases!

ATTN: EVERYONE
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Today's comic was partially stolen from a common wobsite known as "the wiki machine", or sometimes "wikipedia". Notice the excerpt from the sign describing the Tapir.

"The Malayan Tapir (Tapirus indicus), also called the Asian Tapir, is the largest of the four species of tapir and the only one native to Asia. The scientific name refers to the East Indies, the species' natural habitat. In the Malay language,--"

You must be thinking, "Wow, did that guy really squint hard enough to read and transcribe the whole thing?" The answer is NO! I copied it from Wikipedia, just like Jeph did.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malayan_Tapir

Not that this has any significance, I just thought it was kinda funny.

EDIT: Well shoot, someone got to it first.

Except that Wikipedia allows you to do stuff like that.

It's pretty much the entire reason for its existence.

Just so no-one is confused:

plagiarism == passing someone else's work off as your own.

Plagiarism =/= incorporating said work into your own.

And where do you see Jeph mentioning it's from wikipedia? It's aprt of his work, and there's no indication it's not his phrasing, and hence he's passing it off as his own.

I just think it's pretty funny :)

[/quote]

I just assumed it was from Wikipedia, considering that Jeph is a Webcomic artist and not a mammalogist. The inclusion of accurate facts from a public source constitutes fair use. Jeph was making a Comic strip about a character who has an irrational fear of exotic mammals, not a research report about said mammal. If I were Jeph's tenth grade biology teacher and he handed in a research report with portions lifted from Wikipedia without attribution, I'd give him an F. However... He lifted two and a half sentences to include on a portion of a sign within a much larger drawing. I call that fair use. Accusing someone of plagiarism for fair use,  even in jest, is not cool.

Anyway, rant over. Yay Hanners. Yay (possibly) Fangus. Yay Sven feeling like crap.

Yay March 34!

I note from Twitter that Hanners went to the zoo at her therapist's suggestion.  Ties it into the narrative a bit.

Jeph did a good job with Hannelore's expressions.  The tapir ... mehhh.

On edit:  I just looked at some pictures of Malayan tapirs.  Apparently, that's as expressive as they get.  My apologies, Jeph.

This has been a very long month.

You don't have an enemies list?

The weird thing is that the malayan tapir isn't even on her animal enemies list.  I guess the tapir falls under her "base-level suspicion" of all fauna not on the list.  Or maybe the tapir just made the list.  Either way... umm... yeah.  Breakfast.

Also, March 34?  wha?
