I always forget that people are dinks on eBay. Someone just outbid me on an Eric's Trip 7" with literally 10 seconds left in the auction.

Great record, you must have payed a pretty penny.  Dead Cities is one of my all time favorite album covers.

Second hand LPs. Looks and Sound brand new. The stuff people sell, man. Also found Creedence Clearwater Revival's S/T, Bayou County and Green River re-issue/re-master CDs for 5-10US$ a piece. Those too are practically brand new. Then I ran into a friend who has a kickass distro:

Godflesh spinoff!

Khanate spinoff!

Russia noise punk thing!

And from last month:

Godflesh, good stuff, I just got Streetcleaner for a while ago, Hoq is Slavestate? I'm gonna buy it soon :)

The name of that band is Gnaw and the album is out on Conspiracy Records. I still can't bealive how heavy this thing is. The first song literally made me jump out of my seat and try to find the volume knob.
Here is a pretty good review.

Slavestate is a remix/dub EP of a few old Godflesh songs and b sides. I haven't listened to it yet beacuse my record player died on me last week. If you like Godflesh you should check out that Transitional album too. It's by Dave Cochrane (ex-Head of David) and Kevin Laska and I think Justin Broadrick is in a few tracks.

Woa, the myspace is cool, I hear some interesting industrial touch a couple of times... And Dubin is just as amazing as I remember. Thanks for the recommendation, gonna get it if I get the chance. I will check out Transitional as well !
___

I've got lots of stuff this days.

And the most important to me right now:

Awesome box... all their material excluding the album they recently released. that would be like 133 songs, around 10 hours of music, all the lyrics, a big interview, rare pics and other sutff.... Great artwork done by the vocalist and just... well, it's amazing.

Nautical Almanac - Melding Linearality

Quote
you can start it anywhere on the record, and the needle goes all over the place. start it on the inside, it's on the outside in like a minute, then back to the inside, then to the middle... it's insane. if you slightly bump the turntable, it completely changes speeds and locations. how this isn't a huge deal within musical history overall is beyond me. basically it does re-mixes of its self forever and ever and will NEVER sound the same twice. limited to 300, there's nothing like it.

Aldo Ciccolini - Satie: Trois Gymnopedies and Other Piano Works, EMI

Not a huge fan of Ciccolini's interpretations, but, it's fuckin Satie.

just got three awesome cds in the post today:

Lifetime - "Somewhere in the Swamps of Jersey" (b-sides, rarities, 7-inches, out-of-print-debut-album-now-remastered, and live tracks, all on 2 discs with reet nice liner note book!)
The Steal - "Bright Grey" (been meaning to check these guys out for a while, and the banquet records sale finally persuaded me!)
Cadillac Blindside - "These Liquid Lungs: A Retrospective" (also from the banquet sale - kinda alkaline trio-ish emo-ey punk.  not amazing, but worth a lot more than the 2quid it cost!)

múm - Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today is Okay
múm - Finally We Are No One
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Slow Riot for New Zerø Kanada
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven
Menomena - Friend and Foe
Low - Things We Lost in the Fire

RCA re-issued my favorite album as a limited-edition double LP.  I ordered and am shaking until it gets here.

Edit (hopefully the image stays up now):
Got my copy in and I'm shaking more.  Full on tremors!  This album is the most awesome thing ever.  Gatefold, embossed titles and restored, unobscured artwork, a remastered CD is included as well, and the mysterious "Track 10" is included (it was removed from the original release due to having quite a few samples of Timothy Leary that couldn't be approved at the time of the original pressing), even though the original joke "Is Track 10 missing?" is still printed on the sleeve.

Woo!  Totally just bought the new Wilhelm Scream EP (I got the mega pack which came with a t-shirt and a poster).

Also, I spent a bunch of money on a new foil blade (accidentally broke mine a few weeks ago) and a new jacket (mine was feeling a tad snug.  Turns out it was actually 2 sizes too small)

(I guess that's a boring picture)

I don't know of any other distros for that EP.  I'm pretty sure that pack came with a physical cd (there were a bunch of different packages being offered, adn I just read thru them quickly cause I had lab to run to right after buying it, but it seemed like there was a physical in addition to the download).  I'm certain it did come w/ a digital download the instant the payment went thru.

And, their shipping costs are totally ridiculous.  cost came to $22, shipping was $9.60, and I'm in the states.  They didn't offer anything cheaper (but they did offer more expensive)

although i gotta say i am fucked off at so many of my favourite bands joining P+P.  the whole anti-cd thing is annoying.  even if they include a cd in the vinyl, there's still the whole massive shipping costs, bulky packaging etc. to deal with.

Getting rid of CDs is just the absolute epitome of stupid. MUCH better to do as Constellation Records does and reward you for purchasing the more expensive vinyl by including the CD version with it. Vinyl is great as a fetish object, or for those that prefer the sound. However, the vast majority have much more use for a musical object that can be used in a large variety of portable devices, and can easily have the music contained within ripped to a computer. Vinyl does neither of these things.

a) You just described the .mp3.
b) A lot of turntables now have USB outputs, and using programs like Audacity, ripping vinyl to digital is frighteningly simple these days.

It was my birthday... So I got nice stuff.

Amesoeurs - Amesoeurs [Crust Punk(?) with some Black metal influences and some alternative stuff too... Very nice stuff imo]

Akercocke - Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone [Opeth + Bigger Balls + Brutal + Some Black Metal = Akercocke]

My Dying Bride - As The Flower Withers [Death/Doom Metal]

Paradise Lost - Lost Paradise [Death/Doom Metal]

Unexpect - In A Flesh Aquarium [I don't like to use the "Avantgarde Metal" tag... But this is trully bizarre. Amazing... and I didn't knew there was a version with a previous EP as a double cd, sweeeeeeet.]

However, the vast majority have much more use for a musical object that can be used in a large variety of portable devices, and can easily have the music contained within ripped to a computer. Vinyl does neither of these things.

Some smaller bands that I've ordered LPs from have even just thrown in a CD-R with the tracks on it, obviously just for the intention of giving the buyer the music in a lossless digital format which they can then rip to their computer at the bitrate of their liking, or chuck in their car, or use as a coaster, or whatever, all without the additional cost to the artist have getting CDs pressed. I think it's a great idea. I don't need a proper CD if I'm just using it for the files on it, and I've already got the presentation object, in the vinyl.

Obviously another option is including a download link with vinyl sales. I prefer a CD because, as previously mentioned, it allows me to rip at the quality that I want.

I haven't bought any music recently because I'm awful. I did buy a whole bunch of Henry Rollins Spoken Word CDs though.

Seeing as this is the closest thing to a music purchasing thread, I've been looking for reliable websites to get vintage vinyls. I'm trying to look beyond Ebay. Specifically, I've been dying to get a solid Ink Spots record.
