Gogol Bordello wins the thread for me.

Agree to the naming of Violent Femmes' debut.
And I'll add  Pixies - Bossanova
Or any Pixies, but even though they have better albums, Bossanova is the most fun one imho.

Two "fun" albums that come to mind for me:

The Polyphonic Spree - The Fragile Army
Primus - Tales From The Punchbowl

All I know of him is his stuff with the Velvet Teen. I saw a solo show he did several years back that was pretty alright but I had to leave early. It was really sad when the guy died.

I didn't know he died.

The fun album thread just depressed me.

Tilly and the Wall's first two albums. You know, before they started shouting about how much they hated people in high school or whatever the hell was going on on the third album.

Nah. That's their best album.

That's like saying 'that's the best turd out of all the ones on this road.'

Nah, I joke. I haven't heard any of The Strokes' albums.

Although virtually everyone I ask or read talking about The Strokes has said Room On Fire was fookin' awful.

I do love 'Reptilia' though.

Reptilia is great, but that album is pretty weak imo.

Let me just say that before you listen to the album, you should lock away all weaponizable items and entrust the key to somebody reliable and responsible. That way, when you finally do listen, you won't be able to kill those people for playing such a horrible, horrible practical joke on you.

a bunch of post-hardcore/pop-funk lovers (including ex-glassjaw fella todd weinstock) playing the most hilariously, gloriously camp disco tunes ever.  imagine your favourite vaguely dancey post-hardcore band being taken roughly by Jamiroquai.  fun as fuck!

I am finding Made Out of Babies' "The Ruiner" to be a very fun listen.  Been listening almost nonstop for the better part of the week now.  It's about as bouncy as noise rock gets.

It's a good song though.

Dance Gavin Dance - s/t

Sounds like if guys from a post-hardcore band tried to have fun writing/recording an album and transferred that fun into what you are hearing on the album - and pulled it off so hard. If you play guitar at all, this album becomes exponentially fun (fun^3, at least) - some of the guitar parts are ridiculous, like the two-handed tapping part in "Reprogramming Mental Programming"

If you'll allow me to step outside the bounds of the thread-topic for a moment . . . Seriously, "PWRFL"? "Natalie Portman's Shaved Head"?? I guess after half a decade of rock 'n' roll we've finally reached the point when all the good band-names have been used.

I dunno, the two I like are pretty dissimilar, and the third one that I know (that being ALL THE OTHERS I'VE HEARD) is dissimilar to them. I'd say they have three songs... and I like two of them.

No way in hell, man, people just don't look at enough movie titles. For example, I am trying to form a band with some friends of mine in Alaska for when I return there, and I wanted to name it "The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas" and was shot down because "No way in hell am I ever playing any faggy country shit."

I am officially calling dibs on that band name, by the way.

Pretty much anything Me First and the Gimme Gimmes counts as fun.   I am, however, pretty disappointed with their cover of Billy Joel's Only the Good Die Young mostly because I've been wanting to cover that song since I was in High School (not that long after it was originally released) and my version-in-my-mind was always better.

Franz Ferdinand's "You Could Have It So Much Better"

It's not an AMAZING ALBUM, but it's solid, and I've been listening to it on repeat since it took eleven hours to download yesterday. I actually laughed out loud when I heard the first song the second time, just because it made me so happy.
