I recently watched RoboCop again...
« on: 16 Jun 2009, 23:00 »

By far one of the best movies ever!!!

I forgot how epic the violence was, people get shot like ten times and after they're just pissed off.
People melting, getting impaled and death machines falling down stairs.

not to mention

My dream car

That was probably the best advertisement I'll have seen in a while.

All I remember is that it's a pretty good description of modern Detroit.

That opening scene which had that poor OCP executive being brutally gunned down by the ED-209 traumatized me as a kid.

This movie is Not Crap.

It was a seriously good - turn your brain off and be entertained flick.

But yeah really this is pretty much the future of Detroit.

Cool - you guys don't mind if we put up a few lawnchairs on the Winsdor side so we can point, laugh and enjoy the show?

RoboCop is one of my favorite guilty pleasure flicks.  Ridiculous amounts of violence and totally implausible futurescape (except for Detroit, which appears to be coming true), but other parts of it are surprisingly well done, and the story itself is kinda cool.

Leave Bitches. That line makes me crack up every time. Good satire that seems to have mostly come true. Still waiting for my Ed-209 though.

My fiancee says "That's life in the big city" all the time.  I don't think she even knows that's a line from Robocop.  Every time she says it, I imagine someone was just mowed down by a machine-gun toting robot, it is awesome.

How can someone FORGET RoboCop?

It's one of Jamaica's favorite old movies, along with Cool Runnings, so I couldn't.

I had heard rumors, but that was all.

If indeed they are remaking it, please, dear gods, don't let them fuck this up.

Robocop is something I recall very fondly from my teenage years.

Robocop was a bad movie.  Robocop 2 was worse.  If we could turn films into cage match wrestlers whose respective strengths are based upon how good they are, The Dark Crystal would feed the Robocop franchise its own fecal matter.

Did you read the name on the box? That appears to be another fine product of Crazytown.

I had a robocop action figure when I was a child. It had a removable helmet and chestplate that you could replace with damaged ones, and a working thigh holster.

I had never even seen robocop but that was hot shit. Better even than the Captain Planet action figure that showed toxic waste stains if you put him in the fridge so you had to use the Geo-Cruiser to rescue him and put him in the sun till the waste stains dissapeared. Also the Geo-Cruiser could fight the Skumm-Copter.

Can we please have a Captain Planet thread.
