A festoon is a string or garland, as of leaves or flowers, suspended in a loop or curve between two points.

Something that is festooned means that something was decorated with a festoon.

I learned what a festoon is today.

I think "festooned", along with "droll" is one of those words where the definition is the exact opposite of what you think it means. I think that's because when I think of festooned, I think of fetid. Hm.

Guys, the Pope is a total hypocrite. Pope Pius IV enjoyed a good festoon as much as the next man.

So now I am curious. What would be the difference between a bedroom and a bedchamber? Is a chamber more of the stone-walled variety, or does it just have nicer/more expensive things within, or is it grander, or what? Do you have to pronounce it in a british accent? Do you have to use other archaic words in the same sentence or passage, like "Well, I'm off to the bedchamber for a quick jape"?
