Shopping for a new AnthroPC
« on: 30 Jun 2009, 13:48 »

I've always been curious as to how AnthroPCs are sold. I thought it would be nice to see a little story arc about how one of the characters shops for a new robot friend.

Even if we never get to see this, it's still fun to speculate: Who do you think buys themself an AnthroPC and what would it be like?

My guess is Penny, who floats into the store on a pink cloud and impulsively buys one programmed like, let's say, Spock. What comes next?

In an ironic twist, the Spock-AnthroPC only quotes Hemingway.

What if Marten wanted a new computer?  Would it replace Pintsize, or would his personality get moved to the new machine?

I imagine Pennelope getting the Amazon AnthroPC, a walking talking Kindle.

AnthroPCs would probably end up being a victim of some sort of touch-sensitive craze like we seem to have these days.

And that would end up in a nasty way.

There must be someone in the QCverse who hoards them compulsively. Something like the equivalent of the crazy cat lady, only with a degree in programming or something. My mind goes to Randall Munroe if he were to exist.

I would definitely buy an AnthroPC, because I don't have any friends. 8D

We know that they compete with pets: Jeph said once that the reason computer-literate Dora doesn't have an AnthroPC is that she has a cat.

Faye has neither. I wonder if that's her intimacy issues at work, or just that she never had time to get one before moving in with Pintsize.

That makes me wonder if landlords have agreements in the lease regarding AnthroPC's (like they do with animals).
