Hey is rye bread called by another name in Australialand? Because I have never seen rye bread here.

Rye bread is not very popular in Australia. It's too unusual to most people's tastes here. If you go to your supermarket, look for the darkest bread you can find, and that'll be rye bread. However most rye bread in Australia is shit: very few proper bakeries make it and the supermarket stuff is, well, supermarket stuff. I never appreciated rye bread until I travelled through Scandinavia: there they make really the nice stuff, and they put all sorts of marinated herring and cured salmon and other yummy things on top of it.

'marinated herring'.

:/

My supper this evening gone was bangers and mash with curly kale. Organic sausages and all. Good solid incredibly tasty food, just how I like it!

If you can find a bakery that is run by Germans, they will make good rye bread for you. Germans always complain about being unable to find good bread abroad.

I am drinking moka-pot espresso and eating brownies and barbecue chips. After I have eaten enough chips, my palette forgets it has eaten brownie and then I look at the plate of brownies and think 'my they look tasty' and then I eat some more.
I am not a good man.

I am hungover and eating grilled turkish bread covered in cream cheese and amazing pesto. I need to keep this sort of stuff around more often. Mmmmm.

Oh okay also.
For my birthday I created this cake: http://www.bakerella.com/red-velvet-cake/

The batter looked like this.

And the cake looked like this.

No better pictures of it whole, sorry.

I have 1/3 of it leftover so today I am going to moosh it into Cake Balls!

That is the most fantastic idea ever and as soon as we get our ovening facilities back (4-5 months) I'm doing that.

Did you try to get the icing/cream consistent or did you not worry about that?

My college has a cafe in the library. It has become one of my major sources of sustenance due to the large, cheap, and not-horrible subs they sell. I just ate one 45 minutes ago.

caramel-filled fudge brownies that i made for my boss's birthday tomorrow. they are so rich and gooey even i can barely eat more than one or two before i feel sick. observe -

this one is such a mess because i couldn't resist cutting a piece while they were still warm from the oven, they actually hold together pretty well once they cool.

bonus story: i also licked the saucepan with all the melted caramel still in it forgetting that i had just taken it off the stovetop not even 60 seconds earlier. don't act so surprised. it burned my flesh but it was also delicious so y'know, you win some you lose some.

No poo of mine has ever looked that good.

I have been staring at that picture, imagining my mouth filling with warm, fudgy, caramelly goodness for several minutes now.

I would just like to point out the semantic difference between the phrases "looks like poo" and "looks like a poo". I'm sure your brownie was delicious.

oreo cupcakes for my sister's birthday!
recipe from how to eat a cupcake.

it's full of cookie pieces. they came out so sweet and yummy, just like eating a big fluffy oreo. i'm definitely going to write this one down for the future.

protip: do NOT make the amount of icing the recipe stipulates. you will only need like, half that, tops. i had so much leftover icing it was stupid. too much even for me to eat.

So I think maybe why I called you Linds is because baking is woman's work, and what with you being so hyper-butch and all I just couldn't connect it all in my mind.

jc i am very sorry although in my defense how often does someone who doesn't play guitar or sell fruit or own a paddle boat even use the words "pedal" or "peddle" in their life. it's like five times maybe.

Then there is the little-known homophone "pedl" which is Swedish for "anally obsessive about spelling on an informal communication medium".

Those Swedes, they have a word for everything.
