Thanks.  Bummer about his dog, then.  (Which means they only showed the dog to makes us feel bad?)

Not really.  The whole point of the episode was that Fry loved the dog (literally his only friend) and fought tooth and nail to recover his fossilized remains.  Then he leapt at the possibility that his dog could be reborn with memories intact.  When he learned that the dog had died at a much older age, he assumed that Seymour had lived a full and happy life and didn't want to spoil that.

Then it flashes back to the past to show that Syemour loved Fry as much as Fry loved him and it's a heart-warming story and dammit I get weepy just typing it.

Just because something makes you sad doesn't mean it's a bad thing.  We have negative emotions for good reasons.

Jurassic Bark is good because lasting friendship is good.

I think the truly sad part about Jurassic Bark was that Fry assumed that Seymour had lived a long and fulfilling life when, in actuality, he spent every day of those years waiting for Fry. Essentially, the dog would have wanted to have been reunited with his owner...and that will never come to fruition.

That's the part that got me. Fry didn't realize he was making a mistake in not returning his dog to life and he believed Seymour forgot about him. Seymour's loyalty was for nothing.

The Hachiko wiki got me teary eyed. I'm such a sap.

A good chunk of the animations and movies mentioned got me as well...but here's one I never understood until now. I started tearing at the end of Yu Yu Hakusho. I liked the series when it first premiered on Cartoon Network when I was in high school, and about halfway through it was cut. Years later, during a college break, I found out that the series had been completed in its dub form (and that series had a great English dub IMO). I got every single remaining episode and watched them a few hours a day through a series of days. And then I got to the last episode...and I realized the story was over. Nothing more would come of the series, the story, and the characters that I came to love.

It was done...and I was sad to see it go. Same thoughts came from the end of Cowboy Bebop, though the ending itself was sad enough on its own.

No cartoons have ever made me cry. The end of Six Feet Under is the only thing in any medium of entertainment that has ever made me cry.

I cried when i saw "When the wind blows" as animated movie the first time:

I had to swallow hard during the scene where Jim phones his son to better come out from London, all believing that the 3rd War will be pretty much like the second and is getting angry as his son tells him that he will stay in London with his family, with no shelter so that they all die instantly in the coming blast because that is so much better than surviving...

And i broke in tears in the last 10 mins of the film, when Hilda and Jim at last die from Radiation Sickness, still believing in the Nuclear Propaganda Crap and packing themselves away into paper bags with their last bit of strength, thinking this might help as written, and where they then finaly die.

Youtube has that scene up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDVFzpAjGb8

Especially the part with "Shall we start to pray dear? While we wait for the emergency response teams?"

Still get a shiver when hearing Bowie sing "When the wind blows..."

Y'know, originally...it wasn't. There was always the whole Marten/Faye dynamic, but there was never a serious thing until fairly recently (in relative terms). It's kind of like the show Friends - we're now at the part where everyone's getting together and it's all oh my god.

Anime:
Grave of the Fireflies: Given. If you didn't cry, you either did NOT pay any attention, or you have a void in place of your heart. One of those movies that you watch once, cry, and never watch again. Not because it was bad, but because it was TOO SAD.

Cartoons:
Up!: Up! had me cry two times.

I could barely make myself finish watching Grave of the Fireflies. I agree completely, and have never watched it again because it's just too sad.

I cried twice during Up! as well: in the first few minutes and again near the end when he's going through the book and finally sees the pictures.

As many others have said, the death of Littlefoot's mother, the death of Mufasa, are all tearjerkers. I also cried during The Incredibles ("I can't lose you again! I'm not... I'm not strong enough"), at the end of Bambi II when his father thinks he's dead, and one I can't believe no one has said yet, during Ice Age when they're in the cave and see the paintings. Also cried, just for a second, at Howl's Moving Castle when Sofi yells that she's never been beautiful and runs out into the rain.

What can I say, I'm a sap with a difficult profession who enjoys an easy emotional outlet (:

I cried at the end of the anime Pita Ten. IT IS AN ANIME THAT IS FILLED TO THE BRIM WITH CUTE AND THEN BREAKS YOUR HEART AT THE END.

Umm, FMA: Conqueror of Shamballa made me cry....

The end of Avatar: The Last Airbender made me bawl for a straight ten minutes.

Fuck, I can't even narrow it down. I'm such an oversensitive wimp that I cry at EVERYTHING. I cry at music videos sometimes. ._.

yeah that was pretty damn sad.  Had a lump in my throat on that one, especially when at the end of his song they froze it in time and In Memory of Mako (the voice of Iroh, who died at the end of the earth book season) appeared.  I was like, aww.

whats the defination of classic disney movie then?  just curious.  poking the tiger with a stick... but the poker is a curious grizzly that never saw a tiger before.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned The Last Unicorn!

"Why do you come to me now?" had me tearing up, and the ending on the beach, with Prince Lear awakening, saw tears rolling down my cheeks.  Even just listening to the opening theme makes me tear up, actually.  This, very recently, despite seeing it about 50 times as a kid.

Also, despite efforts to maintain control, I cried 3 times during UP.  Could have cried even more, if I'd let myself!

As a teen I cried during the Anastasia cartoon, which is pretty ridiculous, but... I was in a sensitive phase.  Yes, that's it.

Ok, I can't be the only one who cried a bit during the movie: Flight of the Navigator

Also, the book Jeremy Thatcher: Dragon Hatcher was really really really hard to finish when I was younger.  Its so hard to see the pages with all the tears in the way.

'The Sting' Futurama episode and as someone else mentioned, Dinobot's death in Beast Wars, are probably the only non-movie cartoons that had me tearing up.  As far as movies go, The Land Before Time, Lion King, Wall-E (hey, don't judge me), and a few others come to mind.

And even though it's not a cartoon, I think 'Bridge to Terabithia' (the book; I didn't see the movie but there's no way it did the novel justice) deserves mention here.  I read it once in seventh grade almost twelve years ago, but even after that much time, it remains one of the extremely few books that I can't bring myself to read again even though I know it's a great story.
