I think there is a flaw in your logic. A terrible, terrible flaw, which can only end in suffering.

It has Jeff Bridges.  Ergo, it will be good.

The original Tron is awesome solely because it's so quaint. Same deal with The Last Starfighter.

This new one won't have that same luxury. Cynicism, activate!

YES.

Tron nerds are some of the biggest nerds there are, so I have a feeling they will try their best to cater to us and keep the style similar to the original.

My knowledge of Tron comes from Kingdom Hearts II.....

Is it worth it to watch the original for the first time now, or will it be horribly, horribly dated?

The special effects will look dated, but it doesn't take away from the movie I think.

Make sure to watch it with rifftrax the second time, or maybe the first.

Absolutely still worth a watch. The FX will indeed look dated, but when you consider that they were done in 1981, they sort of blow your mind a bit. Also, for anyone who cares, the artistic consultant for Tron was the same man who was in charge of it for the 5th Element - Moebius.

Though the effects are dated, they are still pretty awesome and the story itself is pretty good. Also, either watch the directors cut or a version with deleted scenes. Just trust me.

I have actually never seen the original, so I'm adding it to my Netflix cue. It will arrive sometime after Forgetting Sarah Marshall and sometime before I Love You Man.

It's actually not a trailer, so the movie could look a lot different from that.

Not a trailer?  Then what is it?  Bear in mind, I don't have the patience to scour some viral marketing website for clues.

It was supposed to be a "proof of concept" thing they showed at Comicon. The general look of it could change a lot before the movie's done. I think. I didn't think the video looked that bad anyway. The faces looked bad, sure, but I'm optimistic about this movie being fun.
