i would be more excited if ivan reitman had done a good film anytime recently.

i just watched 2 for the first time in a while and the first 45 minutes or so are surprisingly great, what with peter hosting a crackpot talk show and egon's "emotional studying" and the drilling scene. it's weird how it just kind of gets worse as it goes along for no obvious reason.

I'm actually more interested in the behind-the-scenes stuff. Harold Ramis and Bill Murray haven't spoken in 11 years. Wonder how that will play out.

They were both in Ghostbusters the video game. I understand that during voice recording they probably didn't have to see each other....but still. They still did work together. And if Ghostbusters 3 is a go, they need both of them...so....yeah, I think they're probably cool now. 11 years is a long time.

Is Ghostbusters something that we really want to make a sequel to? I don't really like all these sequels being set so far after the originals were made. Indiana Jones, Die Hard, another one I've totally forgotten...

But yeah, Six Days Seven Nights? Evolution? My Super Ex-Girlfriend? Not so impressive.

I still haven't seen the new Indiana Jones but I understand that it's unspeakably bad so....I dunno...you're only half right, I guess.

There's a few other distant sequels that have worked. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt until the trailer comes out.

Plus, that Ghostbusters game that came out last year was fantastic and it involved alot of these same people (not sure about Ivan though; maybe, maybe not).

Yeah, after a long enough period of time it sometimes becomes surprisingly easy to just pretend that the whole falling out never happened at all, even if everyone else is shocked by the development.

I love Raiders of the Lost Ark to death and the third one was pretty alright if a bit underwhelming, but Temple just wasn't doing it for me. It probably didn't help that Indy was the only character I found remotely likable in that one.

Let me put it this way: I find Kate Capshaw so aggressively unlikable that these days just bringing up the movie makes me start thinking about misogyny, sexist caricatures and about what my visceral dislike of the character indicates. I can't imagine this is really the intended effect of a popcorn movie. With that said, I haven't seen Crystal Skull, so i can't really comment on that.

if temple of doom had not been an indiana jones movie, i think it would have barely achieved cult-classic status. it wasn't nearly as good as big trouble in little china, as far as "80s wacky mythology films".

but how could you not like short round!

About 5 years ago I thought Temple of Doom way, by far, the best of the Indiana Jones films. It was cool, and dangerous, and that heart-ripping scene? I watched it again 2 years ago and about the only thing going through my mind was "I liked this movie?"

and if anyone hates kids Short Round almost certainly helped them down that road.

Temple of Doom is one of the most aurally offensive movies it's ever been my displeasure to revisit in my adult years. I watched it for the first time in ages when it was on T.V. a few years ago and there's literally not a second of it that isn't stuffed full of extraneous and ugly noise.
