Just for the hell of it I clicked on my own profile to see when I started posting here.  fucking hell!

Then I started checking some others, and a lot of them were not at all what I expected.  Clearly my memory is worthless.

Mention whatever was going on in the forum when you first joined.  Dates are useless to me; I want to get a feel for who joined when based on forum events (the quiki had just started, keiffer was a mod, whatever.)

When I joined, I had actually been using the name "Sphincter of Theory."  I decided not to join with that name, because people would actually know music theory on this board.  They didn't (by the way, not an insult).  They're just allergic to music that people enjoy.

I have no clue. I remember when Tania signed up and when Hocking was still heavy on image use and humour.

Edit: Wait no, I registered after the discuss forum.
I think what happened is, somebody died and then I was written in as a replacement character.
I think the original character was cast in 2005 and was killed off last year. Something about the character being too similar to a pre-existing one that already had an established fanbase.
Edit: I remember a Joan Rivers guitar with "June" beneath it? June 2005?
Edit:I'm fuzzy on details. I left my memories in other people on the forum and so I rely on them to recall previous event and occurances that may concern me.
There's 6 people here and each one contains one part of a six part story.
Edit: Hey, I'm looking for somebody to read all of my posts before I think of them, any takers?

I registered well before I really did any posting, and if I remember correctly there was some event in the web comic that incited an influx of new posters roughly around the time I started posting with any regularity; I forget what event because I rarely read the damned thing. It was all a bit depressing because my first experiences with the forum mostly consisted of reading threads where people posted how the forum wasn't fun any more and how none of the new people were interesting, abla bla bloo, etc. Definitely something of a transition phase.

I remember the forum going boners for Talking Heads more than Bedhead, there was an awesome boarder named AndSheeWas who ruled and RAY posted and it was awesome. I was in on the Very First Mixtape Exchange, and I got a two disc special with all lyrics and also commentary by Khar. The first disc was "not scary" the second disc was "very scary". I still had the lyrics as of when I moved in June, but not the cds anymore. I remember lots of people joining who were rad, like Julia specifically because Jeph made her avatars

also this has been my same username forever, though it'd be nice to know the people who've been here longer than me who changed their usernames when I left. People like el_capitan and milkmandan and s_lion... some of these people may still be here and I wouldn't even know!

I joined November 21, 2007. I had been lurking for a long time before I joined, plundering the Mediafire thread, and I was one of those people who registered because I felt bad about taking and never giving back. I think a lot of my earlier posts are gone because they were in the original MF thread. Also, looking at old posts doesn't really help me remember what was going on in the forum because for a long time I was too shy to post in this section of the forum; I mostly talked about music and films in their respective areas of the fora.  

Did Kieffer get banned when he was Dirk Hopeless? I know he was being pretty abrasive when I was a newb, and then I didn't see him post for a while. Oh! And Jackie was still around, and kind of cluttering threads flirting with someone I've totally forgotten. ...Actually I'm pretty sure I kind of contributed to that. So uh, earlier posts not entirely free of embarrassment.

I joined a little after I Like Fish was started, I think.

Ally was still stifled_dreams (she told me to post more because she loved my little squid avatar).The QC Dating service thread was around at that time. I talked about myself a lot. The first photo I posted of myself was this.
I remember the quiki, and trying to use the IRC channel to talk to people before gabbly was around. I remember Heretic, and Chuck and elcap. When I joined Aphi was still around. I remember when I was excited to be on the top 10 of posters who had spent the most time active on the forums (I remember when I was number 10, rather than most definitely number 1). I remember when I finally hit 1000 posts, and how long that took. I remember going and meeting fatty and jimmy for lunch in Sydney, and meeting lunchy and jamie and Thnikkaman in Newcastle for a baked goods party. Seriously guys, this thread is making me really nostalgic.

I also complained that thrash metal was lame (a view I still hold) and Miserateur said he was going to "feed me to the blacks". I'm not sure if that was a racist remark but it sounded like it was.

And Alex, I'm pretty sure Keiffer got banned under several different names, one memorable one was Sean Bateman. This was before I'd seen Rules of Attraction (still haven't read the book)

I apparently joined april 28th 2007. however, i didn't start posting a lot until january 2008. i recall will made a scremo thread and we posted a lot of thrashy emo but that was before i really knew much about that type of music. for whatever reason i think that jump started my posting. i do recall however lurking around for most of that period between april and december. i remember it feeling awkward trying to post, cause it felt like everyone knew each other so well (duh).

so yeah i'm coming up on two years of actually posting. damn.
