I think it was too soon that those two albums would fight against each other.
And In my humble opinion... Mono takes over explosions every day of the week.

I agree wholeheartedly.  I really do not understand what people see in EitS.

I find some of Mono's harmonic progressions a bit weak; I don't feel this with EitS.

Explosions In The Sky are absolutely amazing for teaming up with the Westwood soundboard. Unfortunately, this is the only context in which I would ever want to listen to them.

oddly enough david, mono doesn't think of themselves as a rock band, they see themselves creating a form of classical music.

Taka, the main songwriter for the band, often cites Beethoven as a primary inspiration and reference point for their music. Him and Led Zepplin. So...classical rock, perhaps?

ROUND 2: BEETHOVEN V. MODERN MUSIC

Damnit, I'm too tired to think up some amusing comment being pretend semantic about how the Modern period is over and that we're now post-modern (I really do wonder what's next, because the Futurists came around the same time as the Modern period).  Just assume that it was funny and everyone laughed.
