The Warhawks completed their second straight 15-0 season, and won their third national championship in four years. They are 57-3 in Lance Leipold's four seasons as coach.

No, sorry, he didn't make the team ;)

This was the sixth straight time we played Mount Union in the Stagg Bowl, which is a record in and of itself (no other team had even appeared in the D3 Championship by itself six times in a row). We've split with the Purple Raiders, though we've obviously won the last two of three and three out of the last four.

Oh, and Lance and I were classmates back in the mid-1980's. :D

Vikings punter thinks that the condition of TCF field is so bad that he expects a real train wreck. I dunno what to say about that since I don't know how much more (if any) thawing of the field can be done between now and monday night, but I do find it funny/sad how many internet tough guys have already committed to the "YOU'RE A PUNTER SO SHUT UP" retort.

I'm up nine points going into tonight's game at TCFB. She has Cutler and Hester going for her; I have Ryan Longwell. I'd feel better about this game if it was indoors.

Is it bad that I've got my hopes up now? But really, the NFC is so balls-awful that I can actually see it plausibly happening.

We'll get slaughtered in the 'Bowl, no matter who the AFC sends after us, but really, if we can grab home field advantage, the road there should be relatively cake.

The Eagles could put up a pretty good fight considering that Vick can actually throw the ball now.

Kinda weird that it took going to prison to fix that aspect of his game, but don't look a gift horse in the mouth I guess.

Yeah, but none of the teams in the NFC playoff race are intimidatingly unbeatable. We dispatched the Eagles, somehow with relative ease, and the Falcons are good but not incredible.

Then again, Seattle's in the hunt and we lost to them earlier this year.

Parity strikes again!

A point to consider: what if the refs had called that TD in the first game vs. Lions correctly?

It's too bad for the Lakers that the West is so loaded. If they could pull a Boston and just roll over for a while without really hurting their standings it'd probably do them a world of good.

Speaking of which, I need to adopt a basketball team because I'm playing NBA Jam and the Warriors suck. All I do is play Stephen Curry and steal/shoot 3 pointers. Who's good but isn't the Lakers or Heat? Right now I'm leaning towards the Celtics or Magic because they're the hardest teams I've faced so far except the Heat.

Kobe clearly isn't the kind of player who would cope well with putting the team on autopilot for a while anyway. I can't imagine him putting up with a few weeks of "How much has Kobe has slipped?" or "Resting Kobe is killing the Lakers" stories without going ballistic and trying to put up 50 on everyone. And I mean that as a compliment.

England retained the Ashes, though I suspect it will be through a draw.

You mean a drawn series? I honestly don't know what you're basing that on. Both the tests England have won so far have been won by an innings and a shitload of runs. A healthy proportion of their batsmen have been in terrific form all tour - by contrast even the one match that Australia have won so far was marked by the persistent failure of their top order. The only test remaining in the series is being played at the traditionally spin-friendly SCG and Australia have so far shown an extraordinary reluctance to pick Nathan Hauritz, who has plenty of experience at test level and who is arguably the best spinner in the country; meanwhile Graeme Swann has been one of the form bowlers of the series so far for England.

I can see a draw maybe because a draw's always a possibility in test cricket but an Australian win must be incredibly long odds.

Playing for pride still requires a modicum of intelligence about the game, though, which is something this Australian side has conspicuously lacked.

Plus I think the English team will really want to win the Ashes. England have such a poor record here in recent years and to go down in history as the team that beat Australia 3-1 or 2-1 on their home turf after a quarter of a century of disappointment will be a pretty strong motivator, I think.

That would be the great Herm Edwards - he of the Original Miracle at the Meadowlands.

Meanwhile, can we all agree this was the Year of the Officiating Mistake? That stupid ref flagging the K-State receiver for "excessive celebration" for saluting the fans in the stands essentially cost them the game.

Yeah, I've given up on expecting anything reasonable at all from the NHL. However, this year the NHL have really outdone themselves in terms of stupidity with a Winter Classic with expected horrible weather conditions still going ahead, featuring the same 2 teams that they shove down everybody's throat at all opportunity; the new NHL Guardians which is some utter dogshit and the ridiculous new voting system for the All-Star game which has now churned out the same tired crap that they've been peddling since crybaby Cindy joined the NHL.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 2 PLAYERS IN THE NHL, WHAT THE FUCK GUYS? ARGHHHHHHH

It's only one hour into day 3 of the fifth test in the Ashes but it's obvious that it's either going to be a draw or an English win. God, this Australian team is hopeless - you think they're batting's crap and then they start bowling. In fact this is like watching an Ashes match from about ten years ago with the roles reversed. Anyway congratulations to the English team, it would have been an absolute farce if Australia had managed to somehow get a tied series because the English team has been so clearly superior in every aspect of the game.

I can’t believe Man Utd a still unbeaten, haven´t exactly been playing like champions. I guess you don´t have to when Chelsea are playing like they are.
Meanwhile Liverpool keep on sinking, it used to make me depressed for a day or two when they lost but now it seems i´m hoping that they loose so we can get rid of that twat who´s in charge.
