BTW, the best thing about Metalheads? No matter how scary they are, you know they can't be racist neo-nazi types. In the war of Skinheads Vs. Metalheads the Metalheads are on our side and there's no way the Skinheads are winning!

Er, you do know there is a whole thing called national socialist black metal right? And there are tons of militantly anti-Nazi skins. Don't assume someone is a bad person just because they have a shaved head!

In fact I'd never heard of national socialist black metal and I've never come across a skinhead who didn't support the theory that all skinheads are neo-nazis. I was just trying to make a funny comment on the whole hair vs. no hair thing in metal.

I wish there was a total ban on NSBM being totally fucking awesome. Unfortunately there isn't. Fucking nazis!

Although actually about 90% of NSBM is really shit. Even by the standards of bedroom black metal.

I know more "Nazi" Metal fans than punks. By miles.

KharBevNor: I totally agree on how bedroom metal most of that stuff is, but due to the swapping of band members there are quite a few decent noise projects that have ended up with some members who have less than wholesome views.

What the heck? Why is Burzum and Drudkh in the same sentence as NSBM?
Burzum isn't NSBM at all, not by a friggin mile. It's a well known fact that Varg is a nazi idiot, so what? There isn't a single song with lyrics about NS ideology...

And about Drudkh, a lot of lyrics are about nature, and others are about some old slavic poetry that is nationalist but it isn't the same as NSBM...

The prospect of a Rammstein soundtrack to a fight is pretty interesting. Hell, one of the band members even called it "music to invade Poland to".

Yeah, sorry, that 'Art for White Intellectual Elite' shirt and the members of Drudkh being in Hate Forest and Astrofaes (with members of Nokturnal Mortum) and playing a fucking NSBM festival does not make Drudkh at all NSBM.

And if you think Burzum is politically neutral, I'd like you to go check out who owns Unholy Records and Cympophane Records, the main distribution channels for Burzum stuff outside of some vinyl. I'll give you a hint.

Oh God, not this again.
The lyrics and songs are not NSBM... I can't understand why people don't keep a friggin wall between the music and the musician. The musician is a nazi, the owner of the records too, but the lyrics... Thos elyrics don't have anything that can be translated to some NSBM ideology at all unless that when Varg wrote "mother nature" in some songs he meant Hitler or the superior aryan race which I really doubt.

I don't want to sound like an asshole at all but I've read all the songlyrics of Burzum and I don't find a single one having something to do with NSBM's ideology AT ALL. If you have one, then please send me the song and lyrics as well.

I still disagree with Drudkh being NSBM, meh... Checking out The Swan Road and Blood in our Wells, the lyrics don't have anything to do with nazism and similar stuff. Patriotic? Of course, but they consist on some old 19-century poetry and it's nothing excessive or with a negative context. Even they current label [Seasons Of Mist] can't stress enough the fact that the band being labeled NSBM is utterly wrong. link And as far as I know the band put a public statement through SoM
Some members being in Hate Forest [band that is indeed a NSBM one] doesn't mean that Drudkh is NSBM too. Being an extreme nationalist isn't the same as being NS.
If Drudkh is NSBM then peste Noire is the ultimate nazist band. But hey, they aren't.

That's a personal view btw. You are free to agree or disagree with me, I just don't find the problem because the important thing is the music, the painting, the poem, the book and so on... I don't give a rat ass if the dude is a pedofile [Alice?] a serial killer [Gacy?] or in this case, a nazi.
But it's a fact that Varg being a nazi doesn't instantly make the lyrics and music NSBM.
I feel a connection between the music and myself. I don't feel any connection with the musician at all. I don't really see what's so hard to understand about the subject.

Isn't this supposed to be fight music not music to fight about...Esp. as this has already been discussed. It went off into a conversation about downloading, this is never good.

I agree with Converge, "conduit" specifically. Also Wagner & Holst's "Mars" (Doye) The Warriors soundtrack, The theme from Commando, Throats cover of "Crazy Horses", Fu Manchu playing "Godzilla" The Wookie track that's on the Clerks soundtrack and I can't remember who it's by, Devo "Mongoloid" Death From Above "Blood on our Hands", "Little Green Bag" (I've just realised I'm listing the songs I used to listen to on the way to work when I still worked in bars, I guess that required fight music...but fight music with a little party.)

Aye, I'm actually sorry for the offtopicness. There was a point when I just could have used the PM option but I didn't take it.

Soooooooooo...

In my opinion: everything that has to do with sludge is perfect for a fight.
Today I just listened to Eyehategod's masterpiece that is "Take as needed for pain" while I was reading American Psycho, and everything seemed perfect, I got that feeling of wanting to hit someone  :-P

Bartok's ballet The Miraculous Mandarin involves several people getting murdered on stage (the last "miraculous" one won't die however many times they kill him, until he gets to kiss the girl).  Some good (if one-sided) fighting there.  Gruesome stuff that had a lot more trouble getting staged than Stravinsky's Rite of Spring (it was only staged twice in Bartok's lifetime, and both were taken off after only a few performances).

Do it. Downright fucking terrifying band in places. I remember them getting interviewed years back, and the interviewer telling them that allegedly Phil Anselmo was listening to their debut when he overdosed. They responded by saying that if it had been their new one, he definitely would have died.

Hahahaha that's awesome. I remember that in my Eyehategod copy of Take As Needed for Pain [I'm so happy to have a 3000 limited version with 6 bonus tracks, o yeaaahhh one hour of pure madness] in the back it says:

"All The followers Of My Path must, in order to reach spiritual discovery, make one hallucinogenic trip per week with LSD, and everyday with Marijuana.
They must search for inner ecstasy at every opportunity...

They must abandon their families and society... AS SOON AS POSSIBLE."

KMFDM.... 90% of everything they've done, but "you're no good" and the same song remixed by Zombie Girl is puncharific

Oh, it's not a purposeful omission.  I generally forget about them as I've never really gotten into them.  I'm not sure why... just can't crack them open.

It is somewhat strange since I always thought they're rather accessible, relatively speaking. I mean, it's got a beat and you can stomp to it. Then again, I have no idea what it is that makes some groups better than others when it comes to this kind of music. Kahle Bedrohung is in my playlist right now but I couldn't really tell you why I like that track so much. I probably like Feindflug because if there's anything that's likely to turn me off from such outfits it's likely to be an overabundance of lyrics.

I think the thing about the genre is that there's no real middle ground.  It's either really good or laughingly awful....lyrics-wise especially.  But to move the point further, I have no idea why people don't like some of the bands that I think are impossible not to enjoy.
