Swearing constantly doesn't  make the words lose their power, it simply makes them less satisfying to the user and their circle while continuing to offend strangers and generally making the user sound an ignorant lout.

Just grow up, losers.

That would depend largely on the vernacular or idiom present in your immediate environment, wouldn't it you fucktard?

Indeed.  But IRL environments overlap, which gives the opportunity for people to get offended.

Of course, those who simply enjoy  offending people are not really ready for the wider society.

Words are not necessarily offensive, but people get offended - not the same thing.

I am not offended by swearing; but I am saddened by people who use it so continuously that they have denied themselves the satisfaction of bringing it out when it would be worthwhile.

On the other hand, through the normalization of taboo words, one is compelled to express emphasis through more subtle and expressive means.  Simultaneously, one explores and questions the dated and socially obsolete bases of these taboos:  the alimentary (shit), sexual (fuck, cunt, cock), and derogatory (bitch).  What may appear as overuse or misuse of conventional swears can therefore be seen as a socio-political statement -- in a culture where the underlying concepts have been demystified, why persist in their fetishization through supporting an apparent consensus that the words are taboo?

Certainly they may offend before the wrong audience, but what is the iconoclast if not someone daring enough to risk offending?  You say that the individual who enjoys  offending is not ready for society at large, and yet did not the greatest thinkers dare to offend and do we not now revere them for it:  Socrates, forced to drink the hemlock, Galileo, excommunicated and shunned, Lenny Bruce, not invited to some of the best parties.  Can we deny that these historic personages did not perversely enjoy the hostile reaction to their respective messages?

Further, the possibility of offense gives power to the shibboleth, and the swear becomes a tribal rite:  the swearer says to the swearee, we recognize this word for what it is, our gnosis solidifies into the unity of shared experience.  Watch the video I linked and question why David Simon put the dialogue:  Fuck, fuck, fuck, motherfucker, fuck, fuck, ad nauseum into the mouths of two of his favored protagonists.  I would posit that the two detectives are expressing their place in society, at once above and below it, as they exercise their craft accessing abilities and knowledge unknown and inaccessible to even their fellow detectives.  The expletives become their secret language, at once kabbalistic and occult.

Or you could be like me (and Weedmaster P, I guess) and just start stringing swear words together in (mostly) nonsensical compound swears.

I don't know about stopping swearing but I know I started to swear a lot more when I worked with a bunch of late-teen, early-twenties guys in a fireplace warehouse. These days I swear more than I would like and in situations that aren't really appropriate (regardless of whether or not words are inherently offensive, I think it is plain rude to swear in front of small children whose parents may be investing a lot of time and effort into trying to shape their vocabluary not to include those words). When I fall on the rink, for instance, I usually swear involuntarily and then feel really bad about it.

So I guess I am sorry that sometimes I think in other languages? Or that my brain supplies them as the best and most suitable word for the circumstances? I dunno.

So, in other words, fuck off.

No, this is fine, I was pretty much railing against that whole milieux of manufactured poseur-ship of swearing from Quirky Foreign Words* you looked up online, or even that you learned from a TV show.  It's really forced and really irritating.  However, it's clearly a pet peeve, and this is clearly in my own personal opinion, but in my book you're okay.  And clearly fall into the category of
"languages commonly used otherwise by yourself or those around you."
You can't help the way your mind works, clearly, and if it's the first word you come up with, go for it.  Those who don't know any other words in this language, however, and use it for the sole purpose of appearing quirky, unique, or worldly, earn a special brand of my ire.

*Having a 'catchphrase' is a little like this too.  Pretty much I just tend to encounter a bunch of people I find irritating.

The second is that you will offend people who are fluent in the language you've chosen.

This is not a problem when there are maybe 3 million people on the entire planet who know what "T'qiftë kina nonën" means and ain't one of them live in Alaska but me.

I would suggest that you shouldn't announce your latest shallow affectation beforehand, you should just do it.

Like when I took up smoking a pipe, it would have been retarded to inform people a month in advance. It makes it transparenly a pathetic cry for people to pay attention to you, rather than probably a pathetic cry to for people to pay attention to you.

Don't worry, it's not catostrophic. I suggest you drop this one, then, a couple of months down the line, when someone asks you if you want a drink, you casually mention you have given up drinking. People will then pay attention to you in that situation for up to an hour, and you will feel awesome.

I already don't drink though. It's because I'm a hard man

though it isnt swearing the most annoying thing of late for me is "thats what she said" as in person A saying something as innocuous as " It doesn't fit" and person B automatically replies " thats what she said." Granted there are many and I mean many opportunities for this lil verbal one two to be played out in but truthfully i find them all to be annoying.

I am being brought up in a household where it is against the rules to say "shut up" and "darn" because they are bad words. Somehow this never sunk and I swear like a sailor when not around family.
Myself and friends frequently have in-depth conversations about which curse words to use and which ones are overused and have lost their true meaning.
For the record, my favorite swear words are bitch and shit. And the most overused is fuck and least used is cunt, although it is coming back in style.

So pretty much basically, I don't mind swearing a bit and I will keep doing it.

i just add the cuss in the middle. like "it is free-fucking-zing", or "this bourbon is de-fucking-licious". adjectives, adverbs, nouns, i consider them enhanced with a swear in em. though maybe how i feel about swear words (ie that the only people who whine about a swear word are really annoying people who just want to be offended by something) is based on the fact that i grew up working class, whereas i'm sure most of you fuckers probably grew up middle class
